The first jury had a question about transferred DNA. Prosecutors London Kite and LE Hutton both specifically address it for this second jury during their close and rebuttal. A bit of an advantage to the dual-jury logistics @FCN2go

22 month old #AidenMcClendon got justice today. Two 19 year olds convicted of first degree murder in a drive by shooting that took his life more than two years. Great job to the #JSO Homicide Unit and @SAO4Florida. Justice served.

Henry Hayes, Kquame Richardson convicted in 2016 murder

"JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two young men were convicted Tuesday afternoon of first-degree murder and other charges in the January 2016 shooting death of a 22-month-old Aiden McClendon.

Kquame Richardson and Henry Hayes IV were tried simultaneously, but the cases heard by two separate juries.. ..

Deliberating more than three hours, the Hayes jury reached a verdict Monday evening, but it was sealed until the jury hearing the Richardson case makes its decision. Closing arguments in that second case ended Tuesday afternoon and the jury began deliberations about 4 p.m. That verdict was reached in less than one hour.

Because both defendants were minors at the time of the crime, both face a sentence of life in prison without parole. They will be formally sentenced on Aug. 6...."

Mom of teen who killed Jacksonville toddler: My son is not a monster

Tracy Richardson said her heart goes out to Aiden's mother and that she is praying for all of the families involved. She said she believes her son got involved with the wrong crowd and that he did not orchestrate the attack the way the state made it appear.

“He’s not that type of person that they are saying -- a monster. He’s not that way. We’re going to get through this and hope for the best,” Tracy Richardson said. “We are going to be here no matter what, whatever the case is going to be. We’re just praying for the best.”
Sentencing is now scheduled for Thursday, August 9th.
