Authorities hope for more information a year after woman’s disappearance

Although authorities have located the white SUV, driver and forensic evidence, they still need “additional information to clearly understand what happened.”

The Florence County Sheriff’s Department initially took the missing person complaint from Renkas’ sons on July 19, 2016, and the case was turned over to the Iron Mountain Police Department when Renkas’ vehicle was found at Super One Foods.

Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed this morning they have since taken over “due to developments in the case” but declined to reveal what those developments entail.

A task force of multiple law enforcement agencies continues to meet and conduct interviews on the case.
...
Those with information can anonymously contact Crime Stoppers of Marinette and Menominee County at 1-800-427-5857. The calls are “scrubbed” to eliminate any caller identification before the caller speaks with an operator, providing total security, Rickaby said.

Still missing, per NamUS...bumping for Nancy as we approach the fourth anniversary of her disappearance.

Can I ask a dumb question? Is there something wrong with Nancy's hand in the photograph , or is she wearing a mitten/glove?

Nancy Renkas, 47, left her residence in Florence, WI to Iron Mountain, MI on July 18th, 2016 to visit with a relative. She told her relative she was also there to look at a camping trailer that was located in Menominee, MI.

She was seen in a Super One Foods parking lot on July 18th, 2016 getting into a white SUV for the meeting of the camping trailer she spoke about. She never returned to her vehicle in the Super One Foods parking lot near US-2 in Iron Mountain, MI or her home in Florence, WI.

Police were able to find the driver of the white SUV and had a brief interview with them but they stopped cooperating after obtaining an attorney. Police have reason to keep them as a suspect after searching their SUV and cell phone but no arrests have been made. Police do not believe she is voluntarily missing as she left perishable groceries in her vehicle and there is no money missing from any of her accounts.

As of August 12th, 2020, Upper Michigan Source, reports that the suspect of the white SUV has been identified as Louise Wender. Detective Lt. Derek Dixon has stated that she is the only suspect in the disappearance for Nancy Renkas.

Louise Wender is the sister-in-law of Nancy and works at Super One Foods in Iron Mountain, MI. Louise Wender has requested for a Personal Protection Order (PPO) after a Facebook post was released about her being a suspect living free. The court has denied that request.

Her two sons living in Florence, WI continue searching for their mother. She is a white, 51-year old female with brown hair and green eyes. She wears clear prescription glasses. She is 5'4" and 200lbs. Last seen wearing a dark blue shirt, blue jeans and grey/pink Reebok athletic shoes. She walks with a limp and has a "L" shaped scar on her left hand.
