Police looking for clues in disappearance of Naperville man five weeks ago

About 9 p.m. Jan. 14, Michael Armendariz left his Naperville apartment and got into a dark-colored SUV, police investigators say.

The last activity from the 20-year-old's cellphone came from a location on Chicago's South Side that same day, Naperville police Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said. There has been no activity on his credit cards.

He shares an apartment in the 100 block of South Whispering Hills Drive with a friend, the last person to see him, and he walked to his job at a local restaurant because he has no car, Cammiso said. He's never disappeared for a prolonged period of time, he said.

Armendariz last saw his mother, Corina Marin, on Jan. 11 when she drove from her home in Rockford to see him, Marin said in an email. He planned to take a few days off from work visit her the week of Jan. 31, Marin said in an email.

Marin said she's pushed to keep the story in the spotlight in the hope that someone with information will emerge. They've passed out flyers and shared the story with everyone they can, she said.

She's particularly worried about her son's health. He was diagnosed with a liver ailment at 16 and had to be hospitalized due to complications as recently as early 2014. He also suffers from anxiety, he said.

Bumping for Michael. Where could this kid be? I wonder if LE ever determined who picked him up the day he went missing. Praying he is OK and found soon.

Body found in Marquette Park dumpster identified as missing Naperville man
A body found last month in a dumpster in the Southwest Side Marquette Park neighborhood has been identified as a man who was reported missing from Naperville since January.
Michael Armendariz, 20, was found about 12:30 p.m. June 7 after a neighbor called 911 about a foul odor in the 6800 block of South Artesian, according to Chicago Police, Naperville police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. His death was ruled a homicide.

Dumpsters in Chicago are leased out or purchased by customers (apartment complexes, stores, restaurants, etc) and the business sets up the pick-up schedule based on their needs and how much they want to pay. It could be once/week, twice/week, once/month, etc. Things like a lock on it is an extra fee, etc.

So this dumpster was apparently never dumped??

3 accused of killing Illinois man, leaving body at abandoned warehouse
Saturday, a judge denied bond for all three suspects: Ernest Collins, 22, Cassandra Green, 21, and Candice Jones, 38.

Armendariz's mother says she knew it was 21-year-old Cassandra Green from week three. Green was allegedly a childhood friend of Armendariz.

"The facts alleged in this case indicate a complete utter disregard for human life and the rule of law," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said.

Prosecutors say the motive was an alleged robbery attempt.
