Local media reports say an Aeromexico airline flight has crashed shortly after taking off from Guadalupe Victoria International airport in Durango in Mexico.

Jose Aispuro, the Durango state governor, said emergency services were en route to the site but could not confirm if there were any casualties.

It is still unclear how many people were on board the aircraft

A Durango civil protection spokesman said there were no reports of deaths following the crash, Reuters reports.

Aeromexico said on Twitter it was aware of reports of a crash and is attempting to verify details.

Aeromexico said Tuesday it is aware of an accident involving one of its planes in Durango, Mexico, according to the airline's Twitter feed.

The airline said it is working to verify any information and obtain more details.

The state's governor said he has asked emergency officials to respond to the scene.

  • July 31, 2018 An Aeromexico passenger plane crashed in Mexico’s central state of Durango on Tuesday, images posted on Mexican television and social media showed. It was unclear whether there were casualties.
The Mexican airline said in a post on its Twitter account that it was aware of reports of a crash in Durango and was seeking information.

Photos posted to social media by the Durango branch of the country’s Civil Protection Agency showed thick black smoke rising from the body of the plane. Several ambulances were also seen in the area just off what appeared to be a runway.

It was unclear whether there were casualties.

Oh no. That is a huge looking plane. Article says up to 100 on board but we dont know count right now.

OMG This looks to be bad folks.

More details coming out by the minute. We now have a passenger count of who was on board.

"The plane had 97 passengers and four crew members on board, Mexico's transport minister said on Twitter."

This could be bad unfortunately. The pictures are horrific of the smoke and whats left of the plane. You can see the large tail so it was a big plane.

Yes that is the same clip that was in the news clip and that one is much clearer so thanks for sharing. At the very end that is either walking wounded or maybe just spectators coming to see if they can help.

They dont look like formal rescuers so I hope its walking wounded because that would mean survivors.

Gosh I hate the news when a plane accident occurs. :(

An Aeromexico passenger plane carrying 101 people crashed in Mexico’s central state of Durango on Tuesday, according to Mexican officials and images posted on social media. It was not immediately clear if there were casualties.

The Mexican airline said on its Twitter account that the plane, an Embraer ERJ-190AR jet, had been scheduled to fly from Durango city’s Guadalupe Victoria Airport to Mexico City. The 560-mile flight takes about two hours.

JUST IN: Durango governor confirms there were no deaths in crash of Aeromexico Flight 2431 to Mexico City

Wow. I hope that is accurate. That would be great news. The pictures of the burning plane look terrible so it is a miracle if everyone survived. Wow.
