Alada's husband, Aaron Lester, told WSVN his wife has been diagnosed with an unspecified mental illness, and that she left their home without any diapers, a toothbrush or a change of clothes for Isabella.

'I’m sure that [Isabella] could be happier. I’m sure that she’s terrified,' he said. 'I’m sure that she wants to be back in her bed and back in school.'

Lester told Local10 his wife and daughter vanished just hours after he and Alada had a tense marriage counseling session.

According to the husband, their therapist said some things that ran counter to his wife's point of view, and that on the ride home she was uncommonly quiet.

The mother, Russell Alada, 27, left with a small suitcase, but did not take her medication, clothes or diapers for their daughter with her. The two disappeared hours after the couple had a stressful marriage therapy session. The counselor said some things that challenged Alada's viewpoints, which may have overwhelmed her. She wasn't the same on the car ride home and wasn't talking.

Alada disappeared before in her native country, the Philippines, when she was pregnant. She was found several days later living in a 24-hour McDonald's restaurant.
