It was a male lay judge who got sick.
At first he leaned his head backwards, sat like that for a while, later he fell to the floor. It was rather dramatic.
Ambulance took him to hospital. He is OK now.
Trial has been postponed, no date has been set.
Poor Kim Wall´s relatives, boyfriend and friends.

But the original says 'og de lighunde' - and the cadaver dogs ' - surely those Swedish dogs that played a part in finding the body parts? PM overestimated himself, and underestimated the police and the cadaver dogs.
SATA perhaps you could explain which it was that the prosecutor hadn't heard of before!

They were left with only one lay judge then? I do hope this does not mean that the entire trial has to be done again, only the last day ~ please ...
Am very curious about how the defense would have pleaded, legal arguments and all.

I think they have to do it all over, not just the last day.
I can´t help wondering if that lay judge who fell ill, buckled under the pressure of there only being two of them instead of three.
He must have had similar thoughts about the fairness as we have had here.
A big responsibility on the two.

The prosecutor said in the Ubåd case at the start of the plan, the last court day in the Eastern National Court, where the prosecutor's office is seeking confirmation of the life sentence while the defense goes for a formalization.
The request is made after one of the three judges no longer had to attend because he had got a job in a board after the first day after which another judge at the last hearing had an inconvenience, so that the hearing had to be canceled.
"We have discussed the issue and we make an order in which the request is not accepted," said the chairman at the start of the hearing.
He also stated that the judge who became ill has stated that the temporary delay is not due to the case but due to health reasons which have not affected the court proceedings during the previous two days.
The President also decided that prosecutor Kristian Kirk should restart his procedure, which he was interrupted at the end.
And while the prosecutor has started with it, Peter Madsen sits and looks alternately down the table and up on the prosecutor.

Plead not guilty.
Appeal date continues from 9/14 to 9/26.
Verdict was unanimous, by all three judges.

9/5/18 Update: Madsen is sentenced to life imprisonment for murder on the Kim Wall. However, he has only appealed against the length of the sentence, the guilty issue will not be re-examined. Defense Attorney Betina Hald Engmark will try to convince the Supreme Court over the next three hearings to mitigate the verdict's judgment in Livstid to Peter Madsen. A final decision is expected on Friday, September 14th. Prosecutor Kristian Kirk read from the verdict in the City Court as part of his documentation in the appeal case. After an overall assessment, the court finds that the accused has killed Kim Wall, finding the court's judgment, which was disposed of in April this year. Appeal hearing continued to 9/12.
9/12/18 Update: One of the judges had to withdraw because he had got a job in a board, and then one can not be a judge according to the Act of Justice. However, it is decided that the main hearing continues, and every judge has one and a half voice. There are thus three legal judges and two judges with three votes in total. If there is a tie, it is the result that benefits an accused. Appeal continues to 9/14.
9/12/18 Update #2: Madsen has agreed to pay 150,000 kroner to the parents of Kim Wall & 120,000 kroner to her boyfriend, Ole Stobbe, as compensation for the loss. Tomorrow he will learn if his appeal against a life sentence has been successful. It is widely predicted it will be reduced to 16 years.
9/14/18 Update: Pros started their closing arguments. But then hearing had to be suspended this morning, because a judge became unwell. Taken away in an ambulance. It is not clear when the hearing will be now.
9/18/18 Update: The ill lay judge will return & trial will not be have to start over. Appeal trial starts again on 9/26.

The normal punishment for a murder in Denmark is 12 years in prison. But the murder of Kim Wall was planned, ruthless and victim defenseless. There are circumstances that make the punishment a lifetime imprisonment, according to prosecutor Kristian Kirk.
Peter Madsen underestimated the police and the Swedish dogs said the prosecutor. He never thought that Kim Wall's body would be found.
The prosecutor is now mentioning several murder sentences that led to life imprisonment. Judgments he believes that may be indicative in this case.
If this case does not lead to life imprisonment, what cases should do? asks the prosecutor. How bestial must it be?
The prosecutor ends his closing argument. Believes that Madsen should primarily be sentenced to life imprisonment, in other words, for safekeeping. The court now takes a break of 10 minutes and then it's the turn of the defense.
Defense Attorney Betina Hald Engmark is now commencing her final argument. Asks for relieved punishment for Peter Madsen. Considers that he should be sentenced to imprisonment for between 14 and 16 years.
The defense attorney, among other things, stresses that Peter Madsen has no previous convictions, which is a mitigating circumstance according to the defense.
The defense also suggests that the massive media attention for this case may have affected the need to impose a higher penalty.
Like the prosecutor, the defense refers to older judgments which she believes strengthens her thesis that the punishment should be 14 to 16 years in prison instead of lifetime.
The court takes a short break.
Should Madsen be sentenced to a timely sentence, he may apply to be released after being served 2/3 of that sentence. In other words, if it were 16 years in prison, he could apply after almost 11 years.

- All killing is cynical. Taking another person's life is one of the most cynical things man can commit, said Betina Hald Engmark.
She referred in her procedure to the fact that in the grounds of the district court, the planning of the killing of Kim Wall had not been long-term and that Peter Madsen was not sentenced for execution of rape.
Therefore, her appeal to the court was that they should not emphasize much of the opponent's procedure.
- The district court must only emphasize the testimony of the city court and not what the prosecutor believes. His subjective attitude to the case is irrelevant to the court's assessment. The accusation's own storytelling must be ignored, said Betina Hald Engmark, who also strongly rejected her client being sentenced to custody.
- My client has not been previously punished, and according to the Legal Affairs Council's opinion, it is not mandatory that my client be punished with safekeeping, said the lawyer.
There is probably a judgement in the case at 15 o'clock today.
