William Hoehn is no longer looking at the screen of photos, he is looking straight ahead, chin resting in hand. Dr. Froloff is explaining that her uterus being outside the body is unusual, a case he doesn't often see.

Dr. Froloff says that when he suspects asphyxiation, he looks at the muscles in the neck, layer by layer. Bones in Savanna's neck were not completely broken, but that doesn't necessarily mean she was or wasn't strangled.

Dr. Froloff says Savanna **may have possibly been strangled to death, but he says this was a somewhat difficult autopsy to perform. He'll explain some other complications shortly.

The State is now looking at the specific injury to Savanna's abdomen. The direction of the cut was mostly horizontal. Many of these pictures being shown are difficult to see, William Hoehn is looking down and not staring at the most gruesome pics.

Dr. Froloff says that there is no evidence of IV access on Savanna's body. In most pregnancy cases, he will see a small hole where an IV was placed to put the woman in a deep sleep for the surgical procedure.

Froloff said there was no evidence of blood-stopping measures on Savanna's body -- measures that would be taken by a hospital staff during a C-section procedure.

Other than the ligature (rope) around Savanna's neck, Dr. Froloff says there was no other 'pain management system' used during Savanna's out-of-hospital c-section. What Savanna went through is excruciating pain.

Froloff says that the umbilical cord was hanging out of Savanna's womb when the autopsy was done. In this case, the placenta was still attached to Savanna's body, which means her organs and body were still in a pregnancy stage.

Q: Would the abdomen cut be fatal? Froloff answers that nothing was done to stop Savanna's bleeding, and there are two competitive causes of death: either bleeding to death or strangulation. The official cause of death is 'homicidal violence.'

A small amount of ethanol was found in Savanna's toxicology test. Froloff says that when bodies decompose, they begin to release this chemical and sometimes it shows up in the tests. There were no drugs/alcohol found.
