Tracy has been missing for seven years now.

Her body has yet to be found and no one has been charged in her disappearance.

Eight years after she went missing, the search for Tracy Ocasio, who disappeared May 2009, is still ongoing.

"Even though James Hataway, the only suspect in this case, is serving a life prison sentence on an unrelated case the men and women of the Ocoee Police Department are dedicated to helping Tracy’s family find closure," McCoskers said. "Any information regardless of how small it may seem may be useful."

After 9 years, police still looking for clues in Tracy Ocasio case


Ocoee police are marking the nine-year anniversary of Tracy Ocasio's disappearance by asking the public for information in the case.

Ocasio was last seen on May 26, 2009, leaving a Raleigh Street bar in MetroWest after an Orlando Magic game, police said.

She was with James Hataway, who is the only suspect in the case but has not been charged.

I didn't get any takers on the 'living' facts summary posting idea. Giving it another try just to establish the players. The idea is to quote the previous post, then, wipe out the quote commands (begin and end quote in brackets) so that the list can be editted/updated and available for the next person to repeat the process until we get it pretty well fleshed out. Best we can do w/o a dedicated forum for Tracy IMHO. My hope is to create 1 or 2 posts that we can then used to send links to other sleuthers so they can come up to speed on the case and lend their time & talent.

About 1:30 a.m. a decade ago Monday, 27-year-old Tracy Ocasio walked out of the Taproom bar in Orlando’s MetroWest neighborhood with James Hataway.

Ocasio’s case remains unsolved. Hataway– the sole suspect, according to police – is currently serving a life sentence in state prison, having been convicted in an attack on another young woman.

She was never seen again.

As the grim milestone of the 10 year anniversary of Ocasio’s disappearance nears, the Ocoee Police Department issued a brief statement Friday, stressing that the agency is still “committed to solving this case to bringing peace to the family and justice for Tracy.”

Though her parents have said they have accepted it’s unlikely she’s alive, Ocasio’s remains have not been found.

The 2013 discovery of a human skull near Ocoee – in a wooded area her family described as a former hangout of Hataway’s – briefly sparked hope of resolution to the mystery, but the remains were determined not to be hers.

After her disappearance, Ocasio’s Chevrolet Cobalt was found on Franklin Street in Ocoee, blocks from Hataway’s home. He told police she gave him a ride home, then left, claiming he didn’t know what happened to her.

The victim in the case that sent him to prison, Rachael Clarke, testified that she had thought she was giving Hataway, a friend, a ride home Aug. 7, 2008 – until he tried to strangle her.

Clarke said she was able to break free of Hataway’s grip and escape the car they were in, but he chased her down and, after she fell, grabbed her by the hair and slammed her face into the concrete.

The commotion drew the attention of a neighbor, who intervened and called 911.

Hataway is currently serving his life sentence in Blackwater River Correctional Facility in Milton, a city in the Panhandle. He was convicted of attempted murder, burglary, false imprisonment and robbery.

Ocasio is one of three young women in Central Florida whose disappearances over a roughly five-year span have gone unsolved, despite extensive search efforts and widespread public attention.

Jennifer Kesse, who disappeared from her condo near Mall at Millenia in 2006, has never been found. Orlando police have said they think the 24-year-old woman was abducted.

Michelle Parker, 33, disappeared in November 2011 after dropping her young twins with her ex-fiancé, Dale Smith. Orlando police have called Smith a suspect, but he has not been charged.

It sounds like LE still has the car. Hataway knew the dredging ponds well in Ocoee. LE should be looking through all the records of Hataway's fathers business to see what ponds their company dredged.
