Police searching for missing Osawatomie 4-year-old, kidnapping warrant issued for mother

A 4-year-old from Ottawa, Kansas, was reported missing Thursday when the mother failed to show up for a custody hearing in Johnson County.

The father, who is from Osawatomie, Kansas, contacted the Olathe Police Department after being unable to reach the mother and the case was referred to the Ottawa Police Department, because that was the mother and child’s last known address.

The missing child, Jax Tinsley, was last seen Oct. 1, according to the organization. He’s 3-feet-2 and 50 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes and glasses.

"Police are searching for the whereabouts of Jax Tinsley, 4, and his mother, Trina Tinsley. A warrant for Trina Tinsley’s arrest was issued by the Franklin County District Court with a $500,000 bond. She is wanted for aggravated interference with parental custody. The warrant and a vehicle that the mother is known to drive are also entered into the FBI database....

The missing boy case is on the radar of several law enforcement agencies including the NCMEC, U.S. Marshall’s Service, FBI and local law enforcement and court agencies in Johnson County, Kansas, that had contact with Jax and Trina before the disappearance, police officials said...."

Missing four year-old found safe in Mexico, mom arrested

Jax Tinsley, the four year-old reported missing on October 11, was found on Wednesday by Mexican authorities in Heroica Veracruz, Mexico.

The Ottawa Police Department announced that Tinsley's mother was also located and arrested in Mexico by the FBI. Trina Lynn Tinsley is being held in the Harris County Jail in Houston, awaiting extradition to Ottawa on a kidnapping warrant issued by the Franklin County District Court.

Ottawa Police officials credit the speedy work of the FBI and the cooperation of the boy's family in his safe recovery. The Center for Missing and Abducted Children also helped in the case. Officials say Jax was abducted by his mother on October 1st.
