A student killed eighteen people and injured at least 40 in a gun rampage at his school in Crimea today.

Vladislav Roslyakov, 18, stalked his college halls with a rifle, shooting 17 dead and then killing himself in the school library.

It is thought the teenager, who reportedly obtained his gun with a hunting licence, also set off a homemade nail-bomb in the canteen which blew out the windows but did not kill anyone.

Video showed terrified students running and screaming during the attack on Kerch Polytechnic College where the shooter was a fourth-year pupil, according to the Crimean Prime Minister.

One said: 'There was a guy with a gun and shooting everyone. I did not know what to do'. Another added: 'The walls were covered in blood, we climbed the fence to escape.'

An 18-year-old student ran through the technical college in Kerch firing at fellow pupils before killing himself, Russian investigators say.

The assault at Kerch Polytechnic College was initially investigated as a possible terrorist attack. But officials quickly reclassified it as murder after learning that the gunman, Vladislav I. Roslyakov, 18, was a fourth-year student at the college.

There were no immediate reports of a possible motive, though a friend of Mr. Roslyakov said that he was a loner who had expressed an interest in the 1999 school shooting in Columbine, Colo., where 12 students and a teacher were killed.

"Chilling footage shows the suspected gunman Vladislav Roslyakov, 18, stalking the technical college corridors armed with a shotgun, reports The Sun.

The teenager’s body was found in the building’s library, where he is believed to have committed suicide.

Authorities said 39 remained hospitalised after the attack on the college in the city of Kerch on the peninsula annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

The suspect’s mother, Galina Roslyakova, is a cancer nurse at a hospital that received some of the wounded.

She was initially helping care for those allegedly shot by her son when investigators arrived at her ward to let her know her son was responsible and to interrogate her.

She left the hospital with detectives.

A local source said: “She is confused and cannot explain her son’s motives.”

The armed individual filmed by surveillance cameras at Kerch Polytechnic College during Wednesday’s mass murder is named Vladislav Roslyakov. He is apparently the one who killed at least 19 students and instructors, injuring dozens more.

Eighteen years old, Roslyakov was a senior at Kerch Polytechnic College, enrolling at the school in 2015, according to Russia’s Federal Investigative Committee.

Speaking to the magazine RBC on the condition of anonymity, a friend said Roslyakov “really hated the college because of its evil teachers, and he hinted that he would get back at them.” “He never showed any signs of aggression, he was a quiet young man who never had any problems [with the police], and he was getting a stipend,” Sergey Aksyonov, the head of Crimea’s local government, told the television network Rossiya 24.

If past school shootings, rampage killings, and terrorist attacks are any indication, Vladislav Roslyakov is likely an injustice collector/grudge holder. The reason is he stated he would vow revenge against teachers. It was a long list of resentment he had.
