AMBER ALERT WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot to death, 15 Oct 2018 *endangered* #3

The Cell Site Location Information (CSLI), usually known as a cell dump should already be in the F.B.I.'s hands.

Because of the busy highway, I imagine there may be a huge amount of data for the investigators to go through but they may sort and prioritize local numbers to investigate first.

I am hoping that this leads to a break in the case.

Do you think there would be a lot? I have driven from Rice Lake to Milwaukee many times. There is no traffic starting in Rice Lake. But further down,,much further down, 94 is the route to Chicago and there are tons of trucks.

I cannot remember when the traffic starts to get heavier. But it was late on Sunday night

Northern Wisconsin this time of year is filthy with hunters. Possible some hunter wandered on to Closs property, were confronted about it and got mad and then went (back) after the parents. A hunter, or anyone really, could've arrived and departed from the Closs home via an ATV across country; avoiding roads/police/cameras that way.

And the local casino?

Casinos in Wisconsin | Hotels in Wisconsin | St Croix Casinos

Turtle Lake is just west of Barron on Highway 8... lots of cameras there? Facing Highway 8 as vehicles pass in either direction? The casino is very close physically to the highway.

MOO

As this is a casino, yes, I would think there would be many cameras, at least inside casino and on the parking lot. Why? Cameras inside to ensure nobody is scamming the House by counting cards. Outside to keep winners from being robbed.

If the casino is close to the highway, as it seems to be, then yes, I'd think vehicles would be picked up on camera.

Just fyi, I live in Southern California and Jayme's case was mentioned on our local AM News radio station. I haven't watched our local news on TV today (Been CONSUMED online) *****Just wanted people to know the scope and notoriety this case has garnered*****
I have Apps from like 12-15 news organizations on my phone, and every single one of them has sent alerts on this case.

The media can be a pain in the butt, but they are more beneficial then not in cases like this.

It’s great to see all the attention.

But what if it was the perps phone that was used? Releasing who that is could get her killed. Granted, perp would know that she used his/her phone and would know police know...but maybe making it known publicly would endanger Jayme. We don’t know what other information they have that makes them believe it would hurt rather than help anything.

I have the same adjectives that keep popping in my head every day since all this broke: potentially volatile and explosive.

Fabulous!

Does anyone think there’s a chance she is already deceased? What do stats in prior cases tell us ?

We’ve looked at Family Anmhilator stats in the Watts case.

I’ll tell ya child abduction predator stats are not good.

So if this is someone known to her like a boyfriend or mentor her chances of survival could be higher vs a random abduction if they already have a relationship history or the suspect is “fixated” on her for say “wife” purposes (like Elizabeth smart) or thinks he’s in love with her and wants to keep her around.

the TOD for sure makes a difference, Jayme had to have been in a situation she couldn't speak when 911 called(secretly). Abducted at gunpoint, being hidden nearby and an escape happened. So horrible. She wasn't on her own to make an escape that's for sure. I don't have high hopes here..... especially if the perp is tracking that her phone or her presence has been reported by LE to the public, may have put her in harm's way even more:(

Unless it was one of her parents who called 911, not her. I think it is more likely that she was the one yelling in the background, which is how they know she was there while they were killed.

If the perp wants to keep her, and I believe he does, I think he's going to end up being a local. He sees her, he fixates on her, he plans to take her, then whatever happened in the house happened. But I also think he's going to stay local. If he's keeping her, he still needs to work, he probably has at least some family or friends or neighbors who would notice he went missing, so his best bet will be to carry on as usual.

Thirty-five percent of Wisconsin residents own a gun. This percentage is higher for rural residents as they worry about protection from humans and animals.

It seems likely that Mr. Closs would have owned a shotgun, but it was revealed that there was no gun found in the Closs' home. Was the murder weapon a shotgun or rifle owned by Mr. Closs and it was taken by the killer?

Another long-time reader compelled to register and comment!

I'm really focused on the 4 minute response time. We know:
  • the call lasted just under 1 minute
  • there was some kind of altercation underway during the time of the call ("yelling")
  • the house was empty and both parents dead when police arrived, 4 minutes later
So if a dying parent made the call, it means they died in the 5 minutes between hitting the call button and police arriving. Not impossible but long odds so it makes me think it was more likely that Jayme was the caller. If Jayme was the caller then we can probably presume the parents were already dead or injured (heart breaking) so that means Jayme must have been an active participant in the altercation heard during the call. So somehow we go from her making a call, to participating in an altercation with yelling, to being gone without a trace in under 5 minutes. It's just a remarkable series of events to occur in such a short span of time and in a relatively rural environment late at nigh. I can't get my mind around it.

GREAT first Post, welcome to WS!

Dear FlamingoLady,

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's so crucial to have Jayme's situation broadcasted nationally. Now we know it is.

Right now, with the (few) facts as we know them, it’s not looking good at all.

The best hope is what you suggest as being a possibility, that this person has some sort of bond with her.

Who made the 911 call " I cant comment on that as its part of the investigation"
Lets recap
We know someone dialed 911 inside the house, no neighbors called 911
If it was either of Jayme's parents how does that impact the investigation (they are dead)
If it was Jayme still doesn't impact the investigation (we know she was there)
Unlikely the suspect/s who just murder 2 people called but anything possible i guess.
The mind boggles on the mindset of police and there (lack of) sharing of simple information.

I do not understand the secrecy of the phone.

Yes. I feel that <modsnip - not victim friendly> it could be very likely that she is deceased. I’d think her kidnapping was to hide DNA evidence, the perp hoping that her being killed and disposed of elsewhere will help them. There aren’t many more options other than holding her as a form of control/for sex, trafficking (unlikely in her demographics), revenge on someone other than her parents.

Usually they say once taken to another location, after 24 hours...well, I think chances are pretty high they will be killed. Jmo

Dear Human,

This is great information. Thanks!

I am not familiar with the area and wasn't sure how busy that highway usually is.

This means that there won't be as much data for the investigative team to pore over and that is so good to hear!

I’ve heard 4 PCs that all sounded a lot alike, if not practically identical.

These are:
1. Jessica Ridgeway
2. Abby and Libby
3. Mollie Tibbetts
4. (Jayme Closs)

In 1,2,3 LE said the same “may have changed bahavior”, etc when they had squat at the time (in Jessica’s case many avenues were still under current investigation such as reviewing footage, dna, etc)

My point? None of them had an actual trail on the suspect. Despite whatever evidence they had at the time (video, audio) plus stuff being processed.

So a lead doesn’t necessarily mean theres a concrete trail, for example BG.

I really think they have not picked up a trail up to this point, moo.
