GUILTY Canada - Paul Bernardo & Karla Homolka, murdered, 1993

Hypothetical question...
Let us say that PB did get probation and somehow had the opportunity to go to Quebec, would he try and seek or stalk KH?

Case of Paul Bernardo raises questions about parole proceedings (with clip)

October 18, 2018

"Do “privacy concerns” of a convicted rapist and serial killer outweigh the rights of the victims? The lawyer representing the Mahaffy and French families is calling on the federal government to make legislative changes following Paul Bernardo’s parole hearing...."

Bernardo-like sexual deviancy poorly understood, expert says

October 19, 2018

"TORONTO -- What drives some people to sadistic violent sex remains poorly understood but Paul Bernardo's contention that feelings of inadequacy led him to commit his savage crimes is junk, an expert familiar with the serial rapist and killer said on Friday.

At his failed parole hearing this week, Bernardo argued among other things that a speech impediment as a child and later anxiety over his sexual prowess moved him to dominate girls and young women as a way to boost his low self-esteem.

"That's rubbish," said Dr. John Bradford, a forensic psychiatrist who thoroughly assessed Bernardo ahead of his trial more than two decades ago. "People don't go around raping and committing sadistic homicides because they have low self-esteem."..."

Imagine being one of his rape victims and worrying that he could ever be released? He has ruined the lives of so many people. He can never be trusted around any woman ever.

Karla Homolka's victims don't worry, they were all murdered. I hope that Karla spent every moment scared and worried that he would be released. She needs to experience the fear that her victims did.
Paul Bernardo is too emotionally stunted and mentally disturbed to be released. He doesn't seem like the type of person who could be trusted to not rape again once he is around women. All it would take for him to do so is built up frustration, being overwhelmed by stress, insecurity, etc.

Convicted killer, serial rapist Paul Bernardo denied parole

OCT 30, 2018

"The Parole Board of Canada says it is clear Paul Bernardo still lacks insight into his criminality and denied the convicted killer and serial rapist parole.

The board notes Bernardo, known as the schoolgirl killer and Scarborough rapist in the early 1990s, resorted to blaming his sadistic behavior on an anxiety disorder and low self-esteem. Bernardo talked about his lack of self-esteem at his parole hearing two weeks ago.

The board turned him down then, but only released written reasons on Tuesday. The panel says it doubts Bernardo truly understands the depravity behind his horrific crime wave in the Niagara peninsula in the late 1980s and early 1990s...."

Paul Bernardo psychiatric report describes a remorseless killer — but perhaps not a psychopath
The surprising details are part of the first thorough public examination of the notorious serial rapist and murderer’s psychology since 1995

October 30, 2018

"Killer and serial rapist Paul Bernardo, 54, has one close friend he describes as a feminist who has all the control in their relationship, according to correctional records.

If ever released on full parole, he plans to live with this friend in Ontario to be near his aging parents, then move away from the province he horrified a quarter century ago by preying on young women and girls.

He scores high on psychopathic personality traits, such as being glib, selfish, cunning, grandiose and manipulative. But he is not technically a psychopath, falling short on the standard checklist’s second part about anti-social behaviour traits, such as impulsiveness and unstable lifestyle....

The ten pages of reasons are the documentary conclusion to a surreal hearing that saw Bernardo reflect on his own psychological oddities in a way the lead board member found “academic,” almost as if he were talking about someone else. He sounded rehearsed, if not actually scripted. In a psychological risk assessment earlier this year, he even occasionally spoke about himself in the third person.

He claims to have discovered that his sadistic sexual atrocities stemmed from low self-esteem, misguided coping mechanisms, “cognitive distortions” and the disinhibiting effects of stress and alcohol. He thinks he had an anxiety disorder....

The various “psychometric instruments” that have been administered to him reveal a mainly remorseless man who is so quick to deny his own problems, and so keen to portray himself in a positive light, that he “may not be amenable to treatment.”

He has even suggested he “cured” himself....

He can apply for parole again in two years."

The description of him sounding "academic" is a trait found in psychopaths. I'm not sure how they could say he isn't a psychopath. He is a textbook psychopath. He doesn't have the capacity to feel bad or feel sorry for his victims, that's part of psychopathy.
Karla Homolka is as much of a psychopath as he is. She still has not expressed remorse for murdering three young women and enjoying it.

** Poor baby!! ......sarcasm implied.

Parents of Paul Bernardo’s teen victims trying to obtain his file
''The parents of two teen girls who were murdered by Paul Bernardo are seeking to obtain his entire file with the parole board, arguing public interest in the case outweighs the convicted killer and serial rapist’s privacy rights.

The families of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy are also requesting audio and video recordings, as well as any written transcripts, of Bernardo’s failed bid for parole in October 2018.''

''The two families filed for judicial review this month after their requests for the documents under access to information legislation were denied.

In the filings, their lawyer Tim Danson argues the decision goes against the principle of transparency and could lead to Bernardo being released without supervision.''

I hope they get it. They certainly deserve it.

I didn't realize that all his information wasn't made available to the public.
Every time there is mention of Bernardo or his request for parole, I feel disgusted that Homolka the murderer gets to walk around free, enjoying life with her husband and children.

We can’t forget that Karly Kurls had a hand in the deaths of three of these young people. She is free now to live her life as she wishes, a life she denied her victims. There is a Facebook page, I think it’s called Watching Karla Homolka, which is keeping tabs on her. The latest photo posted shows her at a medical clinic.

Karla Homolka is a public figure, Quebec Press Council rules in dismissing complaint | Toronto Sun
''The Quebec Press Council has dismissed a complaint filed 16 months ago against a journalist working for a weekly newspaper serving Beauharnois-Salaberry who reported that convicted murderer Karla Homolka was living in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.''

''In the complaint to the Press Council, Gauthier-Blais questioned why the journalist mentioned the location of Homolka’s home as well as her assumed name. He also questioned the content of the article, saying it would be detrimental to Homolka.''

''The council also ruled that the name Leanne Teale had already been made public in 1999 when Homolka used it in a lawsuit against the federal government. The name has appeared in other judgments made in 2005.

In its ruling, the council described Homolka as a public figure and that her identity, be it through her birth name or the assumed name, had not been hidden from the public.''
