Floods sweep away part of Texas RV park; at least 4 missing

Rescue crews in boats and helicopters were searching Monday for at least four people missing since flooding from heavy rain washed away a recreational vehicle park in a small West Texas city.

In all, at least a dozen RVs were washed away by the flooding.

Nineteen other people have been rescued, some by boat and some from the air by helicopter crews.

Several dogs were also pulled to safety.

Kimble County Sheriff Hilario Cantu said Monday morning that no fatalities have been confirmed in the floods in Junction, about 140 miles of Austin, but that "all the RVs, everything, got swept away."

Three of those missing were identified as residents of Flomaton, Alabama, according to Steve Turner. Turner said his sister, Charlotte Moye, went missing along with his two best friends, Joey Huss and Mike McGee. The three were in Texas working on a pipeline project, he said.

The fourth person missing is believed to be Darin Hartman, a San Angelo man. Hartman was identified by his church, the First United Methodist Church of San Angelo, in a Facebook post asking people to pray for him and his family. The church scheduled a prayer rally for him Wednesday night.

Family of missing Junction flood victims part of search effort
Family members of the missing are doing what they can to help the search efforts in Junction, Texas, after flooding swept away an RV park along the South Llano River on Monday.

Although local authorities have not released the identities of the four people missing, outside sources indicate they are San Angelo resident Darin Hartman and Flomaton, Alabama, residents Mike McGee, Charlotte Moye and Joey Huss.

Steve Turner, brother of Charlotte Moye, said his sister came to Texas with their cousin Janet Shultz. The two were meeting up with Shultz's husband, who was working in Junction.

"Janet was the one who went 23 miles down river," clinging to debris as she was swept away, he said. "Her husband Todd was missing for a little while that first morning."

Crews still looking for 4 missing in West Texas floods
Search crews are looking for a fourth day for four people missing since a recreational vehicle park was overrun by raging floodwaters from a West Texas river.

Texas Game Warden Rachel Kellner said Thursday afternoon that the search continued. Rescuers have been using a helicopter, drone and crews in boats and walking the riverbanks in a search extending from the RV park to 35 miles (56 kilometers) downstream as the South Llano River becomes the Llano River.
