A hiker this past Sunday located a human skull in a wooded area within Placer County's jurisdiction near the Town of Truckee and Highway 89.

The human skull that was exposed to the elements for a lengthy period of time. Several additional bone fragments found in the area may also be human. A weathered and apparently old campsite was located near the remains.

Lt. Andrew Scott of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department said the location is remote and not a popular area for outdoor recreation, which may have contributed to the length of time the remains went unnoticed.
Scott said it could take a year to confirm the identity of the remains through forensic analysis. But he said there were other clues at the site that could help authorities confirm an identity sooner.

“There was evidence found at the scene leading us to a possible identity and we are working to confirm that,” Scott said.

Has anyone heard anything else in this one?

I'm guessing the September 2018 remains were not Daniel Gallardo as his Namus remains active. I can't find this set of remains in Namus.
