Did not see a thread for this sad case...

A Rochester Institute of Technology student charged with murder in connection with the death of her mother last summer pleaded not guilty Friday.

Karrie Neurauter, 20, entered the plea during her arraignment on a charge of second-degree murder in City of Corning Court.

Neurauter, of Syracuse, and her father, 45-year-old Lloyd Neurauter of North Brunswick, New Jersey, are accused of killing her mother, Michele Neurauter, 46, of Corning.

Karrie Neurauter confessed to second-degree murder

Mar 09 2018

"A college student has pleaded guilty to helping her dad kill her mom and make it look like suicide. Karrie Neurauter, 20, confessed to driving her dad, Lloyd Neurauter, to her mom's house and distracting her 14-year-old sister as he strangled his ex-wife Michele.

She admitted to unplugging electronic devices in the home to hide his presence, and then tampering with the scene to make it look like her mom had taken her own life. She also said she lied to cops about her mom's death to throw them off the scent.

Now Karrie, who until recently was a computer engineering major at the Rochester Institute of Technology, faces 15 years in prison as part of a plea deal for second degree murder. She will have to testify against her father at his trial in September. So why did she do it?..."

Lloyd Neurauter Pleads Guilty to Murder of Ex-Wife, Faces 25 Years to Life in Prison (with clip)

Oct 12, 2018

"CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) – Lloyd Neurauter has pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder, Custodial Interference in the First Degree and Conspiracy in the Second Degree in connection to the death of his ex-wife, Michelle Neurauter.

This report is according to the Steuben County District Attorney's Office....

According to District Attorney Brooks Baker, who headed the prosecution, Lloyd plead guilty this morning. During a sworn plea allocution, Lloyd said he coerced his 19-year-old, Kerrie, into helping him plan and carry out the murder by threatening to kill himself if his ex-wife was not murdered.

Additionally, Lloyd told the court the murder was driven by his desire to take custody of his 14-year-old daughter, something he failed to do during a five year Family Court battle. Lloyd said another motivation was the financial burden of paying his ex-wife as part of the divorce settlement.

Kerrie previously pleaded guilty to Murder in the Second Degree and is awaiting sentencing.

Lloyd also confessed to staging the scene to appear to be a suicide before disposing of evidence en route back to his hotel and Kerrie's college apartment in Rochester.

As part of the plea, Lloyd also admitted he had enlisted the help of his sister, Wendy Bonilla, in an unsuccessful effort to get Kerrie to change her testimony in order to aid in Lloyd's defense.

Lloyd also waived his right to appeal. He will be facing a 25-year to life in prison sentence. Sentencing is set for December 4 at 9:30 a.m...."

Life without parole: Lloyd Neurauter killed ex-wife with help from their daughter

Dec. 4, 2018

"...Steuben County Judge Peter Bradstreet imposed the sentence Tuesday on Lloyd Neurauter, according to broadcast media partner WENY-TV....
At his sentencing, Lloyd Neurauter told the court he feels remorse and "found God," WENY reported. He also claimed Michele was unstable and needed to be committed to a mental institution.

The youngest child, the one Neurauter tried unsuccessfully to gain custody of, is in foster care in New Jersey.
Baker called the killing a cold, calculated murder to stop paying child support for something Neurauter couldn't win in court.

He added Neurauter killed Michele bit by bit over the years, and said pleading guilty was Neurauter's last shot at manipulation.

Karrie Neurauter pleaded guilty in March to one count of second-degree murder and was set to testify against her father at his trial. Her plea included a stipulation she would be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. She could have faced at least 25 years in prison.

Karrie Neurauter will be sentenced Dec. 10."

Area residents react to Lloyd Neurauter's maximum sentence (with clip)

"CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Lloyd Neurauter will be spending the rest of his life behind bars without parole.

Area residents believe justice was served after Neurauter's sentencing Tuesday morning.

"I feel that it's a good sentence for the crime he committed, and he does deserve that for the heinousness of the crimes that he did," Corning resident, Aaron Interlicchia, said.

"I don't believe in the death penalty, so life without parole seems very fitting because he was involving his daughter, and they tried to cover the situation up," Lisa Wheeler, a Horseheads resident, said.

"He should get more, he should get more and he deserves it," Gaetano Ruggiero, said. "Anyone who kills their wife (ex-wife) or plots with their daughter to kill their mother, something's wrong with them."..."

This is an unusual case and a horrible betrayal.

I think his sentence fits the crime, not sure though why the daughter got off so lightly. From 15 years down to 1-3? How did that happen?

I wonder whether the two sisters will ever heal and be able to speak to each other again?

and the younger, teen-aged daughter is in foster care. No one wins anything here.

I, too, think Karrie got off far too easy. She still had choices. She chose killing her mom over her dad killing himself. And never thought once to go to authorities or get help?

She'll be out in a year, telling this story however she sees fit IMO.

Michele's name has already been slandered in death. Enough already.

There was a reason they got divorced. If he went so far to say he would kill himself if the dau wasnt involved she should have let him. Then she wouldnt be in jail and her family would be a family.

There is no, NO, excuse for this, she needed 15 at least

Seems to me that that would have been a good solution all around.

Why is the younger daughter in Foster care and not with family? Does anyone know anything about the eldest daughter?
