MISSING ALZHEIMER'S PATIENT UPDATE: Police and fire officials are still searching this morning for 85-year-old Moses Jeffero.

He was reported missing by his wife at 6:14 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Jeffero suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and was last seen jumping the back fence of his home at 802 Rowe Ave. around 5:55 p.m.

Additional manpower was called in to assist in the search. Thermal imaging from the ground and sky was also done overnight to no avail.

We are still coordinating with his doctor and state officials to get the proper documentation needed to issue a Silver Alert. A statewide teletype has been sent out to surrounding agencies and a phone message has been sent out to everyone in his neighborhood notifying them to be on the lookout for him.

The North Lufkin community is also assisting in the search.

Mr. Jeffero is described as 5'11, 200 pounds and is wearing a blue sweat suit.

Silver Alert issued for missing 85-year-old Lufkin man
A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Lufkin man with Alzheimer’s.

Officials in Lufkin are still searching for 85-year-old Algianon Jeffero, also known as Moses Jeffero

According to his wife, all but one door inside the home was blocked. She reported that Jeffero exited the house through the one unblocked door and then jumped over the fence. She said that Jeffero told her “he wanted to go home” before he left.

He's a distant relative that I haven't seen in many years. I wasn't expecting to read that he jumped the fence. After reading that I'm sure he's strong and able to have travelled a long distance. I pray he's found safe soon,because it's very cold.

MISSING ALZHEIMER'S PATIENT UPDATE: People who want to help search for Moses Jeffero can meet at 3 p.m. at Brandon Park to help canvas the neighborhood.

Officers are still out searching the area for the man along with Hudson Search and Rescue.

Dogs with Hudson Search and Rescue helped search for Mr. Jeffero last night. Thermal imaging was also used from the ground and sky but was unsuccessful.

Wherever he is, I hope he's inside and not out in the cold. I honestly expected that they would have found him by now. He said he "wanted to go home." I wonder how long they had been living in Lufkin...he could be confused and think he still lives somewhere else. Anytime someone with Alzheimer's disease goes missing it really gets to me.

MISSING ALZHEIMER'S PATIENT UPDATE: The Clergy and Police Alliance (CAPA) will be hosting a prayer vigil this evening for missing Lufkin man, Moses Jeffero and his family.

The vigil will be held this evening at 6 p.m. at Collins Chapel CME Church (801 Rowe Ave. across the street from Mr. Jeffero’s home).

Mr. Jeffero suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and went missing from his home Sunday evening.

Even if you can’t attend, if you’ll stop what you’re doing at 6 p.m. and take a moment to pray for Mr. Jeffero and his family, that would be much appreciated. #bringmrjefferohome

MISSING ALZHEIMER'S PATIENT UPDATE: We are continuing to actively search for missing Alzheimer's patient, Moses Jeffero, 85, of Lufkin.

Detectives are traveling to the Huntsville area today to meet with law enforcement officials there and identify places from Mr. Jeffero's past.

We still have officers searching the area around Mr. Jeffero's home on foot and ATV. We're also reviewing surveillance video from stores in the area for possible leads.

Mr. Jeffero went missing from his home at 802 Rowe Ave. around 6 p.m. Sunday. He is described as a black male, 5'11, 200 pounds and left his home wearing a blue sweat suit.
