Could have had a mental breakdown for some “unknown” reason. Everyone’s life is different and there is a breaking point to all of us. If u say no, I’m good, you haven’t been thru hell then. I’ve dang near been there for reasons nothing like this. There is only so much one person can take before they break. Homie had no record then snapped to do what he did...why?
I don’t think he had a mental breakdown.

This was too well planned, and too well executed.

He took efforts to prevent the collection of evidence (shaved his head), and apparently thought about this for some time.

Something isn’t right, but he’s not crazy. This was purposeful.

Okay so I got caught up on the details from the second presser. The question I have had all day is how did this guy know her if he wasn't from there. We didn't get that answer in the first presser and we didn't get it in the second one however we did get the tidbit of info that he worked a day in a half at the company that Jayme's father and mother works at BUT they didn't have contact. This is where my theory comes in and this hasn't been mentioned at all yet.

If Mr and Mrs Closs had an office or like open area where they worked at this company(I don't think we don't know what their roles were at the company. He could have worked in the meet part of it and maybe she had a desk job of the sorts or maybe both did who knows) maybe there were pictures of Jayme on their desk, and JTP saw them, then did some investigating to find out who she was. I know its a long shot but it would explain a lot.

What do you guys think?

I think the JP would have seen and become fixated on Jayme more recently. He worked at JO 3 years ago for about a day. I doubt he would have kept Jayme in his mind for approximately 3 years and seemingly do nothing about it until October, 2018. JMO.

And, as I am recently learning due to my own trauma from childhood, the specialists have so many more tools in their belts now and so much more understanding of the biological effects of trauma.

I’m so sorry you have had trauma. It changes your life. It’s been fascinating to learn how the brain ‘rewires’ itself to fold in completely benign things and then those things trip the ptsd triggers. Really weird stuff. It’s different for everyone. The phone ringing is 1 of mine. My attack and rape had nothing to do with a phone. It’s really fascinating. Thank God there’s good help. Jayme will need every ounce of it, brave girl.

Good point.

Without a steady job , how was the perp supporting himself -- much less another person -- a teen who need to be fed and kept warm ?
I'm assuming he wanted her alive and god knows how long he intended to keep her. Was he 'inspired' by the abduction and captivity of the Ohio girls ?
Horrifying.

Bothers me to think he could get a reduced sentence if his past (difficult childhood) or mental health are used for his defense.
Other people struggle with mental illness and have had rough childhoods -- and they still didn't murder two people and ruin a young teens' life.

He'll never get out of prison. Cutting a plea deal that maybe reduces three life sentences w/o parole to two life sentences w/o parole would still keep him locked up.

JMO

I could’ve sworn there was a mention in MSM he has people over to the cabin and put her in a hiding spot, but can’t find it now.

I think a neighbor said there were people in and out of the house. Which is strange for someone who appears to be a strange loner, unless he was dealing drugs. I don't know what to make of it.

Best home defense...who’d a thunk it...a shotgun! Most bang for ur buck, even in the dark. Or in crimes also apparently...screw a security system, dog and a shotgun is all I need! FYI taught my daughter to shoot at 12, ya know just in case
Although it's great in theory, Jayme knowing how to shoot a gun in this case would have been useless. Her father didn't ever have a chance to get his gun. Also, with how close she was to the gunshots I'm sure she at least went partially deaf/her ears rang for a long period of time plus just barely waking up. There's no way she could have shot a gun when being that disoriented.
Also, would like to add that I'm a teenage girl and my dad owns multiple guns (I sort of know how to shoot, although I'd probably be useless), but he keeps them all locked up and safe. If someone broke into our house there wouldn't be nearly enough time to unlock the safe and add the pin + ammo. JMO

Maybe the Army does it differently, or times have changed since I went through Marine boot camp several years ago.

Regardless, we still don’t know if he ever enlisted, or what branch if he did.
Oh goodness gracious. I thought you were talking about his 1 day of employment at the turkey plant. My bad! (I’m tired and going cross-eyed!) I know nothing of the military. Carry on, Commando. ;D

He may have made quick visit to his parents, to avoid suspicion.

I am curious how he 'secured her' when he did leave the home. She didn't have any chains on her body. I wonder if he locked her in a closet when he left the home? Or tied her to a chair?
Possibly locked up ?
The hospital said she was healthy and no major trauma, so I'd assume no restraint marks on her wrists or ankles ?
Not bruised in the photo, and her hair was healthy-looking (as opposed to being chopped off or chucks pulled out).

Depends on the person. My phone could go off all night with a security warning and I won’t hear it. Let my dog bark once, I’m wide awake!
If the Closs' had a monitored commercial security system, the alarm would have been triggered as soon as the door was breached. At that point, a security company dispatcher would be watching and recording everything from that point forward, as well as contacting the police immediately. Yeah. Screw all that.

I don't think he had a mental breakdown. I think more a feeling of superiority and confidence. And issues with authority.

Ur right this was on purpose for sure! But why tho...there’s some reason. He was smart to shave his head. Could have worn gloves as well, no prints anywhere. But a non criminal to this....there was a trigger or he’s just way out there already.

All this military/boot camp stuff is fascinating, BUT it all started with one person’s speculative off-hand comment about a photo (and caption, which has been removed) and seems to be developing into accepted fact for some!

Thank you for this. I was going to ask where this speculation of basic training was coming from and was it solely based on his shaved head.

Not related to your post. People CAN have a 2 year enlistment.

If he was in fact in the military. I highly doubt he was a ground pounder. He was probably a undesirable who didn’t cut it.

I think this was sexually motivated.

You’re right, something caused him to decide to commit a crime like this, and do it in the way that he did.

Perhaps it was a slow build up, or perhaps there was a dramatic and sudden change in his life.

I can’t wait to learn more about this.

I'm a firm believer that a good lesson is in prevention. Home security isn't all that expensive, and even if it doesn't prevent a particular crime, it can give enough information to point LE in the right direction. To me, it's a must if you have children. Of course, that won't protect them when you send them off to school...
And when you send them enable GPS on their phones - for example I can see one of mine is at a fraternity party now - it’s like the Maurauders map - mine actually set this up so we can see them just in case - imagine if they had a ring doorbell and he was in such a hurry he missed it and shot that door in- would LE be able to identify him? Don’t know but it’s worked in my town for porch pirates, peeping toms etc $100 well spent IMO

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet... but I have the most emotional picture I have seen in years.
Excuse the whole screen capture, I was so excited!!!
It's the picture of her and her aunt! :)

To me, if they know this, they have something, his computer, his phone, his plans written out in detail, etc... When he shaved head and so on.... There is more to it than we know...

They said a bad cell signal there. I wonder what the computer access is there? Where I lived in MN, we had horrible computer service because no company wants the expense of a few customers.

I wonder if he monitored how amazing he was. How well his plan worked with no trace?

I think his arrogance let him leave Jayme alone for awhile. He had to get groceries somehow and he sure was not bri ing her with. He is a big boy so he needs food. I bet he ate a lot of snacks
