Detectives today launched an appeal to track down a mother-of-two who went missing near her home two days ago.

Luz Margory Isaza Villegas, 50, was last seen by neighbours on Saturday in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

She spoke to a family member on the phone just before 3.20pm on the same day, which was her last known contact.

Police have arrested a 55-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead in connection with Mrs Villegas's disappearance and he remains in custody.

Officers today said they were growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Mrs Villegas is believed to live with her son Daniel Giraldo Isaza, 25, and daughter Ana Giraldo Giraldo Isaza, 23.

She is also thought to be a foster parent who is currently fostering a two-month-old baby. The child is now thought to be in the care of a family member.

A nice quick arrest. Wonder what the connection between them is.
Mmm, he was taken out of the house around midnight on Saturday/Sunday by the sounds of it, after the adult children were put in a car.

eta - it doesn't say he was taken from the house but that's my inference from him being arrested just after the others came out of the house (Daily Mail article linked earlier)

This article can be put through Google translation - Familia antioqueña busca a mujer desaparecida en el Reino Unido

When one of the children of the marriage went to the house where the parents live, he found the father with some wounds on his face and arms, but Luz Margory was nowhere to be found. "

The woman, according to testimonies of the relatives, was in process to request the divorce of her partner.

  • Most Colombian names follow the Spanish naming convention. This is a personal name(s) followed by the father’s paternal family name and then the mother’s paternal family name, e.g. Jesús Marίa GONZALEZ LÓPEZ.
  • People may have two personal names (e.g. Jesús Marίa). The second personal name does not always reflect the gender of the person.
  • In this case, the first of the two may be used on its own, but the second should not be. Similarly, the first of the family names (the father’s family name) is used alone to address people, whilst the second family name (the mother’s) is rarely used in isolation. For example, Jesús Marίa GONZALEZ LÓPEZ would be appropriately abbreviated as Jesús GONZALEZ.
  • Names may include the preposition ‘de’ with ‘el’, ‘la’, ‘los’ or ‘las’ to link the names. ‘De’ can also mark when the first family name begins, e.g. Marίa DE LA TORRE.
  • A Colombian woman does not necessarily have to take her husband's name at marriage. She may keep her original family names, replace her maternal family name with her husband’s paternal name or add her husband’s paternal name to the end of her full name with a ‘de’ to conjoin it.
