I never would have expected LE to pull over the Taurus on the way to the Closs house. But I would expect the car to come up as part of the investigation the next day. I would think they would have pulled the dashcam footage if there was any and tried to see if they could get a lead on the car that may or may not have been in the vicinity of a double murder and an abduction. Routine stuff.

Thank you. I haven’t had all that much support as far as family goes. If I had, I’m 100% sure my stress would’ve been 1/2 of what it was, and treatment would have been easier and quicker. That’s why I’m so glad that Jayme’s family seem very strong and loving. I love that they’re protecting her and letting her talk about things only if SHE is ready to do so. They’ll keep any of that info private, too, I’m sure. I think that’s so important whether you have trauma or not. There’s a lot to be said for a supportive loving family. jmo

I’m keeping my mind open on the foster care issue. As far as I can see, it was only mentioned once, by one neighbor. (And then quoted all over the place.) For all I know, the neighbor got the Patterson family mixed up with someone else.

Have I missed anywhere where “went into foster care” is well documented?

It was only mentioned in that one article, I believe. I haven't heard anything about his parents leaving them, just that the dad worked 12 hours a day and JP was left alone all day.
Even if they were in Foster care for a short period of time, it does not mean the parents left them or even had a choice. Children are sometimes placed in foster homes or group homes because of truancy issues or behavior problems. It's usually 6 months to a year. Imo

Above, BBM, the one paragraph strikes me and it is probably just media and the way it comes across. Since he was NOT from the small town for generations or a regular, they would not NOT notice him, they would notice him FAR more than others imo. Just like one knows I do not recognize that car in a small town... Everyone sits and goes, who is that that just drove by? Like when a small town bar goes silent when a stranger walks in...

I’ve seen both multiple times ... below is where I saw one of the quotes... it states they were left there... then foster care.. if both parents bail on kids at that age... that’s extremely sad.... especially after divorce...
if you can confirm what really happened let us know ...

Foster care is bizzare off handed statement, but it’s equally bizarre one parent wouldn’t be with kids till 18... it’s also stated Patrick got full costudy...mom didn’t get partial ?? Maybe it’s telling maybe she was just broke and it’s nothing .. dad just stated there 7 yrs ?

Of course there's no guarantees. Just death and taxes, as they say.

Maybe it's what she's done already - fighting to survive. Or the fact that she can smile at all, much less in every single photo. Or, as you mentioned, the support network and resources at her disposal. I believe there's at least a few reasons to be optimistic.

I don’t disagree but I’ve noticed that her smile now doesn’t quite reach her eyes in the same way it did before. But that she can smile at all is a miracle. IMO

This sounds like he did bounce back/forth between the parents and I don't think there's been anything concrete as far as foster care. Yep, clear as mud haa!

I don't know. I don't think its standard procedure to stop a vehicle that yields to an emergency vehicle on route to the location. I have never seen that done. If he had been seen turning out of the driveway, that would have been a different story. About twenty seconds earlier and he would have been much closer to the driveway. Imo

the critical question is:
is the road a busy one?
if not, definitely should've stopped him as it was ''near'' the crime area

Very true. I wonder if he regrets not killing Jayme. His confession seems embellished with details to make himself appear more adept at planning than he really was.

No you probably would have froze like many people would. How does it help to speculate about what they could or could not of done? They were innocent victims who were awoken and probably disoriented and confused. SMH

I have been in a few situations like this, and I did not FREEZE. It helps to talk about it because if YOU are every in situations like this then you should know what probably wont work.

That was one part of the CC that I believe he outright lied about. I find it hard to believe he didn't do any searching about the family beforehand. JMO

Not to mention his car was likely blocking hers at the end of the driveway, preventing any chance they had to safely escape.

And they were presumably in pjs and would have had to stop and grab car keys.

Personally, I keep mine either in my coat or purse in the Living room. Clearly I should start keeping them in the bedroom with me.

This is the precedent in other cases here with minors located, I believe.

Because Jayme has been on the cover of People magazine, the top story all over the world and continues to be discussed, it is impossible to revert back to her initials. Like Elizabeth Smart, the case is so big there is no way to go back from using Jayme's name to using her initials.

You are correct. There is a precedent and we remove full names of minors all the time. This case is flat out just too big.

The difference is that they had a loving parent or parents to return home to. I believe she will survive and thrive with her loving aunts, but that difference is enormous. It is a difficult grief to lose both parents at once in the best of circumstances. This is just beyond. I did wonder when people said she looked tired or sad in some pictures -- well she lost her parents! It may be that as she recovers from the ordeal of the kidnapping, that grief of losing her beloved mom and dad will be worse for a time.

I completely agree. She spent 88 days trying to survive. She has probably not had any chance to truly grieve.

They had no idea they we’re heading to the scene of a violent home-invasion and kidnapping.

They were responding to a 911 hang up.

They do not stop cars for this. Ever.

1.-- if the road is not a busy one, they should've stopped him
2.-- aren't all 911 calls taken to be serious?

No one spoke directly to the dispatcher.

= this usually means it's not a fire/not a car accident/etc...this means something more serious...someone is in trouble--they had enough manpower to stop the car and get to the house, yes?

cops/etc should be suspicious of everything

I guess my main question about all that is where did the Patterson parents live after the divorce? I think dad kept the cabin relic, but where did mom go?

I know before Jayme was found, we kept trying to make sense of the crime scene. Now we have somewhat a handle on that (the complaint is much more thorough than I could have ever imagined, so most of us were left with our jaws hitting the floor), I do wonder about JP’s profile.
