Sheriffs seek help finding missing man, "could be endangered"

His cell could have been off before he went missing. Some people, when they cannot afford to get service, will use free WIFI and call people via Facebook. You would think that they would still be able to ping the phone if it is on, but I don't know for sure. What if the phone he uses never had a phone number?

Family of missing Albuquerque man searches for answers
"This is not normal for Marshall and think that's what has set us off is that this not right,” said his grandmother, Alice Naranjo. “Something is very, very wrong here with him missing."
Naranjo's family said a friend dropped him off at Buffalo Thunder Casino and Resort on the evening of December 28th. He called his grandmother from a stranger's phone since his was broken and said was planning to catch a bus to Santa Fe. Then he planned to take the Rail Runner home to Albuquerque. But he never made it.

"We have our thoughts that maybe he got a ride with somebody or maybe he did get on the bus. I mean right now there's a million questions that could be asked. What is going on," said Fidel Naranjo.

Police have released this picture. Marshall was seen talking with this man. According to the report this man was seen leaving in a dark four door sedan shortly after. On January 11th I spoke to a handful of homeless people in downtown ABQ. One man said he had seen Marshall about a week prior to that but could not specifically say where bedsides that it was in the downtown area. He described Marshall’s behavior and mannerisms and although consistent I wasn’t convinced it was true. I’ve visited several places I know Marshall to frequent and showed his picture to people. They remember him but haven’t seen him lately. I spoke with the police and told them what I knew of Marshall’s behavior of the last 6 months and continue to look for him. I hope that if anyone sees either him, the man in the picture, or knows anywhere he might be that they will contact the police immediately. Displaced old Anglo speaking here.

blkmrkt, where is the closet RailRunner station? Kewa Station? Sandoval?

Does this casino shuttle to the closest station? This casino is on the east side of I-25, correct?

BTW Sandoval Station is close to I-25, while Kewa Station is not.

Thanks for clarifying!

The family does not seem to know what was going on in Marshalls life clearly , describing him as a guy who has no troubles not true Marshall had loads of troubles, it seems that Albuquerque police have not even been looking for him here , why? He could be anywhere from Espanola to Albuquerque.

Sheriff’s deputies from Santa Fe and Rio Arriba counties located a body late Tuesday night, later confirmed to be a missing Albuquerque man.

Marshall Naranjo, 27, of Albuquerque, was last seen Dec. 28, 2018 at Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino.

A witness came forward Jan. 26 and told Rio Arriba County Sheriff James Lujan he believes he saw Naranjo deceased in the back seat of a vehicle Dec. 29 or 30, 2018.

Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office Public Affairs Officer Juan Rios said Monday the office was still looking for Naranjo, but could not say whether deputies believed him to still be alive. He also declined to comment on the details provided by the witness and what that might mean for the investigation.

The witness, who the Rio Grande SUN is not identifying because of the active investigation, said he wanted to ensure that Naranjo’s family could know what happened to him.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office released on social media Jan. 17 stills from a video recorded by a casino security cameras, asking the public for more information about a possible witness to Naranjo’s disappearance.

The images include a still from a security camera that shows a man standing with Naranjo inside the casino. Another still shows a dark colored four-door sedan leaving the area, presumably with Naranjo and the other man inside.

“I saw that post again about this guy on Facebook and I looked at the photo, and I’m like I know that’s Lucas, I know it is,” the witness told Lujan.

The witness told Lujan that Lucas Culin, 36, of Ojo Caliente, was driving a four-door sedan that matched the description of the car Naranjo used to leave the casino, just two days after Naranjo disappeared.

Culin was arrested Jan. 4 inside the Cities of Gold Casino. There was not a vehicle recovered at that time.

Body found

Culin, in an interview with Santa Fe Sheriff’s detectives on Tuesday, admitted he had disposed of the body, law enforcement sources said.

He agreed to show Santa Fe Sheriff’s detectives where the body was. Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matthew Gallegos took Culin from the jail late Tuesday evening.

Culin led detectives down several winding roads to a body near County Road 101B in Arroyo Jacona in Santa Fe County.

The body was lying, face down, just off the roadway near a tree, and exposed to the elements.

Crime scene investigators worked through the night.

While it is clear Culin led detectives to the body, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s have not released details on how he may have died.

As of press time Tuesday, the location of the the maroon sedan was unknown. Culin remains in custody at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center, where he is serving a 30-day sentence for a third DWI conviction.
