I am a member of an American doe site and this lady has been found. I thought she comes from Eastern Europe based upon her looks. Then somebody else mentioned she could be Jewish because she had a kitchen bowl with her and they often use that before prayers. I looked for missing European girls and stumbled upon Heidi. Her surname is Jewish. Could it be her?

I assume you are referring to the doe known as Mary Anderson and not Heidi Knobel, who AFAIK has not been located (yet).

Oh, they do look similar, especially the eyebrow area and the nose. Well spotted, smeijles!

Hi Smeijles, welcome. Interesting you made a connection between Heidi Knobel and the unidentified woman known as 'Mary Anderson'. I never associated the name Knobel with a Jewish surname. I have learned a bit more about it now. There is not much to go on, but a little stats. Heidi went missing in 1976, 16 years old. Nothing about the circumstances. She was born on July 21, 1960. "Mary Anderson", the Jane Doe was found in 1996 and was estimated between 30 and 50 years. Other sources say 33 - 45 yrs. That means she is approx. born between 1946 - 1966 or approx. 1951 - 1963. So that could match. The only other thing we know is that Heidi had dark hair, was Caucasian and looking at her photo she had pierced ears and very thin eyebrows. I don't say it's impossible but what is the change that a 16 yrs old girl would have made it to America. At least she must have had some "help" to survive.

Human trafficking? A secret love affair with an older person? Sugar baby? Runaway? Trouble at home? So little is known about Heidi's case, I wish we had more details, so that we could perhaps exclude some of our theories!

I don't know what happened to her but I think she didn't go anywhere.
Many people disappear every year and most of them have been murdered.
There's a slight chance the Swiss police will find her alive.
Unfortunately this is the sad truth...

It's just frustrating that nothing is known about the circumstances of her missing. Did her family decided she is gone...and not searching anymore...or aren't there any family members left to be her voice?

Just throwing this in. Could this lady be Heidi? Found burned with her supposed husband on a German highway in 1983 (horrific case) She would have been 23 by then. Estimated age of Jane Doe 25 and up, she had a child (nobody knows what happened to him/her) Italien clothing and jewelry. I traveled a lot of times through Switserland to Toscane...Arezzo....it's not that far from Switserland.

Sorry, it's in German….and to be honest I don't read anything that lead to Southern Italie (totally down the "booth") all the places mentioned are in the north of Italie, not far from the Swizz border.

Well, she is still up at the Kanton Vaud (where the city Yverdon-les-Bains is situated) official police website. Switzerland is devided into 26 Kantons. Like the states each kanton has there own (state) police force.
