Your grasp of proper English is coming along beautifully @Steleheart :p

On the map below you can see the square, ahem, parking lot, and that little section of Oak Road which has a path leading from it. There is a gate but I've no idea if it's locked. It's not a very high gate so if someone wanted to get over it they could.

Google Maps
You think yer funny. I know you do.
Here in Boston we are well aware that you guys call it a Cah Pahk. Heh. I try (notreally).
I just wonder if the gates are closed at night, if the path going off to the left is worn that way because it is a popular late night party spot... and if 15 minutes of intermittent screaming was just people playing? Are there lights at night? What killer would keep someone screaming in public for so, so long. Out in the open. 15 minutes.

I can tell the make and model of pretty much any car even from a vague outline. Spent 40 years in the trade nearly. I'm a complete car nut right down to extreme details on models.

I'll tell you one other thing.

When the engine is running in these old Astras and the car goes over 10MPH you cannot open the doors without pressing a button on the dashboard centre console, that means if she wanted to jump out of the car at traffic lights, she couldn't without pressing that button. Nobody else knows or has mentioned this. Automatic locking mechanism. When you turn the engine off, back to normal.
Please could you tell me what all those flashings mean when he gets in as out of his car? First the flash once, as he returns to his car, then they flash as he re locks it, but then they flash 4 times when he returns with the passenger. Sorry if you’ve already covered this, but I’d like to know if it indicates he’s got the doors child locked or something the second time he unlocks? Thanks

Curious...

Have they abandoned their search of the park (the cordon has been removed and you can now access all areas around the pond and the park.)

But, reported around the same time they were removing the cordon and leaving Oak Road, is specialist Search And Rescue teams being freshly drafted in to help for the search.

So are they now going to widen their search to include up and down the river and further afield?

Lincolnshire rescue team assist Libby Squire search

Lincolnshire Lowland Search and Rescue have been drafted in to help with the search for student Libby Squire, who went missing in Hull 12 days ago.

Teams from YorkSAR and LincsLSAR lowland search and rescue, assistance from Humberside Fire and Rescue, the Coastguard and from NPAS have also been involved.

From the same article...

"Three specialist search advisors have been overseeing the search. Nearly a dozen underwater officers, dog teams and support officers from neighbouring forces are assisting with the search."

Again, probably a moot point and just me being specific but I've seen no evidence whatsoever of dogs at any scene?

Am I wrong?

I have given this a lot of thought today.

Following this timeline from sun newspaper

00:03:08 A car appears to be unlocked as two flashes of light are seen on the secluded road outside

00:03:18 There are more flashes before a man is seen for the first time coming into view

00:03:29 He opens the door and sits facing out in the driver's side as he appears to roll a cigarette

00:03:37 A cyclist rides past who could be a vital witness

00:06:06 As the man smokes, another car drives past who again could hold key information

00:06:19 After sitting for two minutes and 52 seconds, the man walks away and car's lights flash again as though it is being locked

00:07:58 A person is then seen on the opposite side of the car who opens the front passenger door. Someone or something is then put inside the vehicle.

00:08:52 The man reappears and gets inside the driver's seat before driving off just before nine minutes past midnight.

So... the window of opportunity is less than 2 minutes for cobweb man to walk to LS and persuade her to go with him, keeping in mind she had already refused to go with gray beard and he had to know she was around the corner sitting on the bench before he approached her. His car is facing away from the junction and he has 1 minute and 39 seconds to walk to the end of the road spot her and get her in car. There doesn't sèem to be a struggle. If he forced her in car she could have been out before he got around to the drivers side if she was putting up a fight.

I just don't see this myself. Didn't I read that the cobweb cctv finish work at 12? Or a local shop? I think this person is purely picking someone up at end of the shift and were having a *advertiser censored* waiting for them to arrive.

However it has been reported that LS was lasted sighted at 12.09am which suggests that it is her on the cctv

CCTV footage emerges of last sighting of missing Libby Squire 'in car with man' source
What if he hit her over the head then carries her to his car?

As an aside and a point of interest/ background colour...

A few days after Libby went missing, a 14 year old boy went missing from the other side of the city. There has been... nothing... no searches, just public appeals for his safe return, no vans driving round, no national media, no search teams, no public out in support etc etc in very stark contrast to Libby, that has had some loals scratching their heads...

As other people have mentioned, they were on the Libby case full on very quickly*. It suggests they 'know' or suspect things that we aren't privy too. A friend pointed out that there were probably things going on with this teen that leads to Police to strongly believe he has run away rather than been abducted/come to harm. They can't find him and they are 'concerned' but they don't seem 'too concerned', certainly not to the scale they are with Libby.

But check this out...

Police issue update on Hull teen missing for a week

Police are trying to track down a Hull teenager who has been "missing" for the last week even though he has been to school.

Harvey Evans, 13, was reported missing a week ago and officers say they want to find him to make sure he is "safe and well".

Last week, Humberside Police described having "extreme concerns" for his safety having last been seen in Hopewell Road , off Marfleet Lane, on February 6.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call 101 - as is still the case - but the force have said he has been seen in the meantime by "social services and educational professionals".

"Police are trying to track down a Hull teenager who has been "missing" for the last week even though he has been to school."

Missing person, in the newspaper everyday for days in a row sharing the headline in Hull with Libby, Humberside Police 'concerned for his safety' and 'looking' for him... but he's been to school in the meantime?

"Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call 101 - as is still the case ". (I am tempted to phone the Police to let them know he's been spotted at school.)

We also form an impression for ourselves that the LE have a finger on a button and can just put resources into something and produce a magic answer from 'the system'...

This beggars... belief... And along with the poor woman who died in the graveyard in November, unfortunately shows our local Police have not got a good record of finding people!

*Q - How long do you have to wait before you report a missing person?
A - There is no time, the 24hr waiting period is some weird myth. A person is 'missing' as soon as they are 'missed'. A mother in a shopping arcade who turns around and her 6 year old child is there one second and gone the next, now has a Missing Child, and no one is going to tell her to call back in 24 hrs!

So if her housemates got back at 3am and found Libby not in her room and called it in to the Police, they may have sent someone round immediately - then they would of course ask them about all the usual regarding a drunk student, could she be at someone elses' etc, but they will general listen to the concerns of the 'nearest and dearest' and act accordingly, unless they strongly suspect time wasting. And, as people have mentioned, it was -5 outside, she was drunk, and dressed for a night out on the tiles not the streets.

Is there any indication of them using dogs (particularly this one) at any other search locations particularly Oak Road?

Jmo but I think it was quickly made clear that Libby’s disappearance was unusual simply by the circumstances, and that police may have thought initially she was in danger due to exposure/the elements (not PR’s kind of exposure...). And once they spoke with people, pulled some CCTV they spotted her and saw it was likely she was either abducted or wandered into a sheltered area, either way needing to be found ASAP. I don’t think there had to be any other extenuating circumstances to cause instant concern.

Whereas if the male teen is still showing up at school, and has possibly bunked off before...yes, he needs to be located and maybe bring in social services but he is likely sheltered, imo. Not the moment to moment urgency of Libby’s situation.

Reading today they are “increasingly concerned about her safety” has got to be the understatement of the century.
I can’t imagine any circumstances now in which she is alive, unless taken by someone completely off their radar for some reason, and held hostage, though I don’t buy it but jmo.

Yes I do agree with all the above. It was probably the immediate conditions that raised their primary concerns...

As for your last point, I fear also. I think the scenarios in which she may be still alive are very narrow - but in that direction, her mental health may possibly become relevant? For instance, some self-harmers use the internet to connect with others. There could be scenario where she is with someone she knows online that non of her other friends know about. But as yet, no indication from this case that that is on the cards.

Her self harming has been mentioned, but not discussed as it seems irrelevant and disrespectful, both reasons from me. But I was shocked when I saw that, both legs and arms are covered in probably the worst self harming I've ever seen. And she has such a happy glowing smile! Maybe she did cathartically remove a mental splinter and was genuinely over that, perhaps it was 'a phase' when she was an early teen, I know we've all done stupid things we later regret at that age. But as a photographer and having had teenage step daughters I have seen self harming scars a lot, and as time goes on I see them more and more, and recently more and more on thighs.

The only reason I would think it was relevant was if her behaviour was that of a mentally unstable person.

For her to still be alive, one of the scenarios is that she is with someone, in which case her mental 'environment' may become more relevant. For instance, some self-harmers connect with others on the internet. It could be possible that she was hiding out whit someone she met online that non of her other friends knew about. Also if she was in a state of mind to self harm, was she heading towards putting herself in serious danger and towards suicide? But so far nothing from this case has given any hint of that.

I'm glad the press hasn't mentioned it, not often they self-police to protect people, but maybe they have held back out of respect, and they have released the photos because, well, she was clearly not hiding it, and in all the photos of her she has a radiant glowing smile, one photo she has an armless dress, the other a very short dress, very brave for such extensive scarring. Also the 'internet' seems to have largely behaved the same. So maybe that was something that she had got over. Crippens could Libby's images have a positive effect in that sense... not in the way of 'normalising' self harm, but at the very least there is a large elephant shaped conversation hovering in a holding pattern waiting to be had as those photos have had a very wide national exposure. So absolutely, a lot of people will have seen the scars and will be wondering about it, regardless of whether it is connected to this incident or not.

Have you got any kind of insight into this illegal taxi culture around you? What would the majority of nationalities be of these people doing this? I know there's a large Polish population around Hull, just like where I live too. Nothing against them at all and have a couple as good friends too. I'd guess and correct me if I'm wrong that most of them wouldn't be UK nationals.

I shall correct you then. I would say the majority or people born and bred in Hull. They tout themselves on Facebook offering out mobile numbers which are obviously burner PAYG.

Oak Road Playing Fields:

I have found the memory card with all the photos I took around the boathouse and that patch of overgrown thicket. I'll post something, hopefully today, to give you all a more precise overview of that area.

Me it was, already commented on this many times now about all 3 cars. Have a look at my previous observations on these 3 vehicles, repeated it all at least 5 times now. Yes I work in the car industry, 40 years nearly running a large variety of dealerships around the UK, valuing and seeing lots of cars every day, even running auctions, back in the mid 2000's, I ran and owned a VX dealership for 5 years so I'm fairly experienced on VX models, every type, shape, size, colour and right down to the wheels, I can even tell you every colour they were built in, sales figures for each model and the exact spec of every Astra or any other VX model built in that era and i can pretty much guarantee what these 3 cars are in this story of Libby, including the elusive one on Howarth.

Apologies. These threads have been very lengthy and fast paced and I have struggled to keep on top of the various car posts. I will read over yours.

So you think he could have driven past her, spotted her, drove around to park, chatted with her, walked away had a *advertiser censored* then went back around the corner and persuaded her to go with him?

Maybe. I wonder if they were known to each other

I believe only one of two scenarios possible:

1) Libby and P. were known to each other or

2) Libby was so inebriated/ out of it by this point that she lacked awareness of what was happening or the ability to fight it

In my mind the only evidence that we know of pointing to that is a) the person who heard a woman scream, several voices and a sound like a wooden gate slamming and b) that spider cam man may have been texting someone on his phone while he was sitting in his car just before 12:09.
Could he have been texting his wife??

Do we know what time PR arrived at Haworth St? The cctv shows him already parked up, I’m just wondering how long he was there for before he first approached Libby? His car is parked facing away from the dead end so he must have done a three point turn when he first arrived there. He must have been travelling towards the city centre down Beverley Rd because the only access to Haworth St is after you pass the bench towards Hull city centre

11.49pm-12.09am so 20 minutes.

We only see a very small selection of snippets on that footage.

I think he's seen the grey haired man talking to her and got curious and drove round and parked up.

I thought grey haired man was possibly the one that drove off shortly before PR did but apparently grey hair man had a Citroen and the car that drives off is a Renault.

I think he saw an opportunity and pounced.

He could have come from his house down Cottingham Rd turning left into Haworth...that dead end area is a bit of a park up spot for a few people. Or if he has spotted her and parked up then yes he would have been driving towards the city.
