'Following the trail of soda': Man steals rig delivering
Pepsi so he could search for his girlfriend, police say
Pepsi so he could search for his girlfriend, police say
A man stole a tractor-trailer rig to aid in his search for his girlfriend at a parking lot in southeast Tulsa.
Steven Hart, 45, allegedly stole the rig, a Pepsi truck, around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday while it was being unloaded at a business near 51st Street and Memorial, Tulsa Police Officer Jeanne Pierce said.
Multiple people called police to report the theft, including the authorized driver of the rig and Hart's girlfriend. His girlfriend allegedly told officers Hart stole the truck and was driving it around the parking lot to look for her, Pierce said.
The authorized driver was in the back of the rig, unloading soda, when it jerked and began moving. He bailed from the trailer and contacted police.
Hart allegedly drove around midtown and east Tulsa, leading police on a brief pursuit.
"The back of the truck was still open, and the lift was down," Pierce said. "One officer said he was following the trail of soda."
