Southampton County Sheriff’s Office searching for missing woman

The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing woman last seen on Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, they received a call Friday at approximately 1 p.m. from a mother concerned over the welfare of her daughter, 34-year-old Cynthia Carver.

When units responded to Carver’s address on Everett Street in Newsoms, they found blood, suggesting that a crime had occurred. The residence was secured and a search warrant was obtained.

Carver was last seen on Thomaston Road in Newsoms around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies with the Southampton County Sheriff's Office were asked to perform a welfare check at Cynthia Michelle Carver's home on Everette Street in Newsoms Friday afternoon.

“Deputies found evidence (blood) to suggest that a crime had occurred,” deputies said. “The residence was secured and a search warrant obtained.”

Carver was last seen on Thomaston Road in Newsoms around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Carver is described as a black female, 5 feet 1 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

Thank you for posting this. I'm so worried about this lady. With that amount of blood, there can't be a good outcome. I'm in Virginia and have seen her mother on the news a few times. Heartbreaking.

Just got done speaking with Southampton Sheriff’s Office about the disappearance of Cynthia Carver. Investigators say, based on information from family, Cynthia was supposed to meet a new man the night she was last seen but no info on who the man is yet. The last time Cynthia Carver’s mother heard from her was Thursday around 9 p.m. on February 21, 2019. When her mother stopped by Cynthia’s Newsoms, Virginia home the following afternoon she discovered the door left open, large amounts of blood in the home, and a bloody knife laying near a sofa.

Even though Cynthia’s car and her belongings were still at the house, Cynthia, a mother of two young children, has yet to be located.
