I have a vague memory of hearing it somewhere from Rick Baker - that Chase had the heart attack after he returned from Saudi Arabia. In his book "No Good-Byes," on page 160, he refers to Chase's personal and physical life taking a downturn after the disappearance of the McStays. Considering the source, obviously FWIW.

There was some indication in the report that JMarsh posted that he was hospitalized in May 2010, but the Saudi job was after that IIRC.

Physical or personal? I'll take a look.

Snipped from JMarsh’s probate link. In 2009 CM was ill and in 2010 he was hospitalized. When my husband had two stents put in his heart with an overnight stay back in 1998 the cost was 99k. Thank goodness we had good insurance. I don’t know if CM had a procedure or not but costs related to a hospitalization are often high.

The court verifies Chase's records the year before, in 09. Scan through to May 09-his medical records are given to the court and placed under seal.

It doesn't matter if Chase gambled and won or gambled and lost. Chase is not on trial for gambling. He is on trial for homicide. Until the DA can tie Chase directly to homicide, they have no case. Period.

I believe CM is guilty. I also believe he is telling the truth about his heart attack and the hospital bill. I don't have proof of it.

I am not a cardiac nurse, but i am an RN. He could have been having chest pain and went to the ED. If he had positive troponins and EKG changes it would be classified as a myocardial infarction. A person can just have slightly elevated troponins and small EKG changes. They likely took him to the cath lab for stents at that time. Easy to rack up 100k in charges, even if was just there overnight, which is entirely possible for an MI with stents.

But investigators know...they executed a search warrant.

It appears you are trying a direct evidence case - gun in the hand with witness sort of thing - but this case nine years later and the sorrowful state of the bodies is a circumstantial one - so we have by necessity a "beyond a reasonable doubt" scenario. Hopefully, it's one that reaches a just conclusion.

It was a long time ago that I saw whatever it is that I saw, and you may be correct. But, taking it at face value - in other words, he did actually have a heart attack - would he have gone to Saudi Arabia after experiencing, and presumably recovering from, one?

I think you are missing the point of the gambling evidence. It goes to the motive. Gambling can be an addiction.

Many people can gamble for entertainment, and it is not a negative thing in their life. Just like many can drink socially, or smoke pot occasionally, all for relaxation and fun.

But some people have addictive personalities, and they let alcohol or gambling or drugs take over their lives, to the point they are going downhill and having a chaotic life. It seems that Chase was in that situation.

Let's be real. If he was getting hundreds and even thousands of dollars out of the Casino ATM, in one month, and was behind in his rent, then he had a big problem. He was out of control. And proving that is important when we are looking at the backdated, deleted checks, that he lied about to the detectives.

It is a direct tie to the homicides if they can put him on Joey's computer, creating that check on Feb 4th.

Ok.. stupid question maybe ... but would that water "stand" there for a bit? With the ground being so dry, it doesn't get absorbed right away, right? We have had downpours after dry conditions and that's what happens, even in my backyard or garden lol So I'm thinking in conditions like the desert, it would be even worse.
I most certainly am not an expert, or even knowledgeable, about soil conditions anywhere, but I would think that the sandy soil in this particular area, although appearing to be "loose" and porous, it is not so. Dig a bit deeper, and it is quite compact. Therefore, I would think that water would not be absorbed very quickly, unless extremely hot weather came into play. This certainly was not the case here. However, I believe Force Ten said that the amount of rainfall in this particular area at that time was not particularly significant.

Right! I recall watching it on HLN, but always had it on my computer because I didn't like missing anything and didn't do commercials... and I think HLN only covered until a certain time (but I might be mistaken). One of the SB local stations should stream this trial!!! they would probably have less problems than L&C anyway.

I watched that on wild about trial. Not sure if they are covering this though
