The Lost & The Found

This definitely seems like a possibility. A two inch height discrepancy doesn't rule anything out. If she for some reason wandered the streets for a month, I guess that could explain some weight loss. The time interval is simply too tight to not consider this UID, imo.

Police identify woman whose body was found 23 years ago

Police in North Carolina have identified a woman whose remains were found more than 23 years ago.

The Jacksonville Police Department says on its Facebook page that Stacey Boothe-Wilson was a former Marine who was discharged in August 1994, when she separated from her husband and moved back to Greenburgh, New York with her three children.

[...]

Officials say it's not known how Boothe-Wilson died, but it's believed her death was accidental because of where her remains were found.

Stacey Boothe-Wilson was a former Marine who was discharged by the Marine Corps in August of 1994, separated from her husband and moved back to Greenburgh, New York with her three children.

She was reported missing in October 1994 and was 33 years old at the time.

The body was found in December of 1995 in the woods adjacent to Courts Plus on Marine Boulevard by a surveyor.

Chief Mike Yaniero says in January a possible DNA match came back from a national database for missing persons. The medical examiner then confirmed the match.

There is no information on how Boothe-Wilson died, but authorities do not believe it was accidental because of where she was found.

UPDATE: JPD: Cold case DNA answer brings 10K more questions

At first, Boothe-Wilson’s remains were analyzed by the anthropology department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington which identified her as a white woman without children. Garbett said this information was later disproved when Boothe-Wilson was identified as a black mother of three.

Omg they identified her first as a WHITE woman w NO Children AND she was a BLACK woman With Children. Omg how long did it take before they realized they were wrong? Things like this just really makes me wonder just how many remains that have been identified wrong:eek:
