I sure wold like to know what the warrant in Texas was for.

As sheriff’s homicide detectives investigated the case, Hunt and Graham were stopped in Hunt’s SUV about 6 a.m. Friday at a border patrol checkpoint in Hudspeth County, Texas, officials said.

“Graham was arrested for an unrelated warrant and Hunt was released,” according to a sheriff’s department statement that said investigators in Los Angeles County were unaware of the arrest.

It's possible that she was placed permanently with a family member thus the Mother would have to reopen the case or in this situation the family would have had to get the police involved first instead if calling child services. Something to keep in mind, if you're seriously worried, make a police report and follow through.

Could not agree with this more! I used to work for DCF and always tell people to make a DCF report AND call 911 if they are concerned for a child's safety, the police can take a child into police protective custody until a case can go before a judge faster than DCF will investigate.
 
Man it sounds like this child wasn’t even supposed to be with her mom. But laws are different state to state. Here in Kansas you can File for guardianship of a child if you feel the child is a child in need of care. Even if there is no open cps case. We chose to not wait around for cps to act. Kids often don’t have the time to wait. It’s not always easy but there is a attorney hired for just the child. And a separate one for the guardians. The down fall is if cps isn’t involved then you have to hire a lawyer and all the cost is on you.

However we won our case , the mom my daughter was actually judged unfit. Therefore if we were to let her have him eveb for a visit etc and anything were to happen. It is us his guardians that would be facing criminal charges. It’s illegal in our state to leave any minor child with a person deemed unfit by a judge. So as his guardians it would be our fault for letting him be in her care. She was already deemed unfit. So we most likely lose him to the state not only that but we would lose our own daughter the only child of our own who is still a minor. The guardianship is in place until
The child is 18 it can only be changed if the morher would apply to prove herself fit. Which is a very costly and hard long process. Then she still wouldn’t get him. She at our discretion could ask for visitation. Eventually she could ask the judge to rule visits. But she can never easily just get him back. It just doesn’t work that way here anyway. Not unless she were ruled fit and we requested we couldn’t care for him and ask them to let her have him. But that wouldn’t be guaranteed. Unless something were to happen to deem us unfit she wouldn’t be able to just ask for him to be given back . Especially since he’s only known this life. And his life style etc would change. So this is just crazy how laws vary so greatly state to state. In this state the aunt if she did have in fact custody would be in prison. She neglected the child.

link upthread said she had a warrant for parole violation out of CA. im not sure if it was probation or parole as news sources sometimes aren't savvy about the difference. if she got CDCR time when she got the VOP for her joint suspended sentence on coercing a minor into act of prostitution, then she was probably a parolee at large and was arrested when her name came up when she was ran.
 
The mother of Trinity Love Jones was charged Wednesday with murder, more than two weeks after the 9-year-old girl’s body was found in a duffel bag along an equestrian trail in Hacienda Heights.

Taquesta Graham, 28, was scheduled to be arraigned later in the day in Pomona Superior Court.

Graham, who used to live in Long Beach, faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison if convicted as charged, according to Greg Risling, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Previously convicted child abuse in 2005 after his toddler son was found unresponsive, malnourished and bruised at their San Diego home.
3/12/19 Update: Arraignment was delayed from 3/12/19 to April 16.
Only for *Taquesta Alishashas Graham (28) “mom” arrested (3/8/19 in Hudspeth County, TX), extradited (3/14/19 to Calif.) & booked (3/18/19) on murder. Held without bail.
Convicted sex offender-convicted in 2009 of enticing a minor female for prostitution.
3/14/19 Update: Originally was arrested on March 8 in Hudspeth County, Texas for an unrelated parole violation. Was extradited from Texas to California on 3/14/19. Held without bail. Investigators are preparing a criminal case against the mother.
3/18/19 Booked for murder. Will be charged on 3/20/19 with murder per DA.
3/20/19 Arraignment today in Pomona Superior Court.
 
The mother of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found in a duffel bag outside Los Angeles now stands charged with murder, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Taquesta Graham, 28, made a brief court appearance in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Pomona. Her arraignment was postponed until April 16. She is being held without bail at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, according to jail records.

Now the residents are helping her family plan her March 25 funeral at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Heights. A gathering will be held after at the Hacienda Heights Community Center.

“We call her the Hacienda Heights Angel. And this little girl brought the community together,” said Arlene L. Silva, one of the residents working with the family.

The memorial service is open to the public and will be held at noon on Monday at the church at 1345 Turnbull Canyon Road, according to Antonio Jones, Trinity’s father, who announced the service on Facebook.

Following the service, there will be a burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2161 S. Fullerton Road in Rowland Heights. Afterward, there will be a gathering at the Hacienda Heights Community Center from 3 to 7 p.m.

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif.— Most had never met her, didn't even know her name until they saw it on the news.

But moved by the tragic death of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found stuffed into a duffel bag and discarded on a hillside trail — like so much trash, as one mourner put it — people turned out by the hundreds Monday for an at-times joyous, at other times angry and frustrated interfaith service celebrating the life of Trinity Love Jones.

They all but filled the pews of spacious St. John Vianney Catholic Church in the Los Angeles suburb of Hacienda Heights, just a couple of miles from where a park worker had found Trinity's body on March 5. She was dressed in pants with a panda pattern and a pink shirt — her favorite color — that proclaimed, "Future Princess Hero.
