The post you quoted me on was saying emotions would be running high so anything could have happened - this isn’t pointing a finger at a scorned woman.
Stating this does happen a lot as history proves is a separate comment.

I think it's extremely unlikely that an affair resulted in (presumably) the scorned wife having Claudia murdered.
For example:
If a woman, Claudia's age or younger, had a new and divorced partner, older than her, him having to offer a lot of material things to his girlfriend like a nice home, maybe a car, maybe vacations, etc. etc., and if CL had got in the way of this partnership - THEN I can imagine, that young woman would have fought for her partnership with all means. If she knew about CL's successful method to catch and keep a man, because CL was very well known to her, the confrontation had to be very serious. Now imagine this woman having some men/friends, well known to her too, who would help her to eliminate the "disturbance factor", which threatened her future ....
All MOO IMO

What is that saying about nails and heads?

Na*'s H*ad? The 4 men (or 2 or 3 of them) could have been the "helpers". They are not cleared, AFAIK, but there is probably no sufficient evidence and no cooperation with police by outsiders.
Drunken men and drunken women could have forged a plot perhaps. IMO MOO

More likely she was murdered to prevent somebody's wife from finding out.
That's what I've come to believe. Normally I don't follow cases outside the USA, but this one is REALLY strange. I would have thought there was enough for LE to catch the person responsible by now.

I have always thought she went somewhere the night before.
Bed being made says to me that Claudia did not sleep there that night.
Dishes in the sink, could have been a supper snack ( I sometimes have toast or cereal for supper, so the type of dishes would not necessarily indicate a morning meal ).
Cleaning her teeth, downstairs, just before she went out, also fits.
And taking her hair straighteners, to be able to do her hair in the morning, before she left wherever she was staying to go to work.
Agree with this. thought perhaps she brought the toothbrush downstairs, intending to take it out with her, then forgot it when she actually left the house.

I have just signed up after reading this thread. Here is what I think has happened to Claudia.

York has two major Army Barracks, Queen Elizabeth Barracks and Imphal Barracks.

I think she was an escort of sorts or in a financially beneficial relationship with a senior army Officer, York has a big military presence and military people love their ‘bits on the side’ so to speak.

I think that Claudia has demanded substantially more money from the said Officer to keep the relationship quiet and not tell the Officer’s wife.

Rather than just pay up and keep her quiet, he has murdered her and ditched her body (in the River Ouse, possibly)

Squaddies tend to not be in the same location and areas for very long periods due to postings etc and will probably be long gone from York.

I think an Officer has the ability, knowledge and influence to keep the crime quiet.

That’s my theory..I look forward to your thoughts on this.

Welcome to Ws FreddieDog!
Very interesting if somewhat scary theory, hmmmm..

The CCTV of her leaving work and the 'unidentified man' on the morning she disappeared. The witness statements regarding her private life and that she sent for rich men in their fifties then dumped them after a couple of months.

Well they were usually in the building trade, and many of them were identified and questioned. Anyone she saw who was out of the ordinary would have stuck out like a sore thumb but let's agree to disagree.
