First picture of missing Briton, 31, who 'fell overboard on ferry' | Daily Mail Online

Rem Kingston, 31, was last seen around 5am on Friday after boarding Balearia ferry Hypatia de Alejandria in Valencia with his mother.

He was reported missing when the vessel arrived in Majorca on Friday and a major air and sea search by the Spanish Coastguard has failed to find any trace of him.

However, his sister believes it is possible he could have hidden on the ferry, which travelled via Ibiza, and vanished on purpose.

But his sister Megan has flown to Spain as police in Majorca, Ibiza and Valencia continue to search for him on land.

She told local paper Majorca Daily Bulletin: 'Rem has mental health issues. He suffers from paranoia and sometimes gets scared of people.

'There is a possibility that he hid himself somewhere on the ferry and returned to Valencia, stopped and disembarked at the port of Ibiza or that he did come ashore here in Palma.

'It's just that my mother had lost sight of him.

The missing man, director of an Essex-based HR firm, has spent several summer seasons DJing in Ibiza and also says on an Internet biography he has been involved with online radio, pirate FM radio in Essex and London.

He has also performed at clubs in Cairns on Australia's North Eastern coast and in recent years has publicised himself as a photographer.

In May 2014 he was the subject of a missing persons' appeal by police in the Scottish Highlands.

Officers said at the time the car enthusiast was believed to be travelling in a blue Ford Mondeo, but later confirmed he had been found safe and well.

Sister calls for help in finding missing Briton

Looks like this guy has leaped from the deck straight into the water while out at sea.

If he's still missing by now he's likely drowned through exhaustion or hyperthermia. Especially if there is nothing around to cling on to or be less immersed in the water.

Water temperatures in the western med basin off the coast of Valencia are currently about 16C, which is far below the indefinate survival benchmark of 21C.

I would say there might have been hope in the first 24-48 hrs, (if he has jumped), but definately not now.

Unless he has hidden himself away and vanished after reaching port, one has to assume he is now deceased unfortunately.

'Real hope' missing man is still alive

[...]

His sister Megan said there was "real hope" her brother - who has borderline personality disorder - had either disembarked the ship or was hiding.

After a three-day search of the sea, police are now looking for Mr Kingston, from Billericay, Essex, on land.

Ms Kingston warned her brother may be "fearful and untrusting because of paranoia" and urged members of the public to seek help if they find him.

British sister not giving up in the search for her missing brother

"My mother and I have not returned to the UK since and are not sure when it would be possible to leave at this time."

"The Spanish authorities have his photograph and information, but we are again calling on the public to keep an eye out for him and to take him to these authorities."
