SHELDON, Iowa (KTIV) – Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body, in the Floyd River, in Sheldon, Iowa.
The body was found on the southeastern edge on the Northwest Iowa Community College campus, Tuesday morning.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, which was contacted by Sheldon Police after the body was found, says the body was located on the shore of the Floyd River shortly after 10 o’clock, this morning.
Investigators say it appears the body had been underwater.
The Sioux County Sheriff says the body is that of an unidentified male in his 30s or 40s.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the body was located along the shore of the Floyd River, near the very southeastern portion of the college campus. Deputies say it appeared that the body had been underwater. Sioux County authorities say they believe the body to be that of an unidentified male in his 30’s or 40’s.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the body will be transported to the Iowa State Crime Lab in Ankeny for an autopsy.
Authorities say they don’t believe there is any immediate danger to area residents at this time.
Sioux County authorities say more information will be available as the investigation continues.
