Former Hillsborough Community College Professor Pleads Guilty To Possession And Distribution Of Child *advertiser censored*
Tampa, Florida – Howard Joseph Vorder Bruegge, III (36, Tampa) pleaded guilty today to possessing and distributing child *advertiser censored*. Vorder Bruegge, a former mathematics professor at Hillsborough Community College (HCC), faces a minimum mandatory penalty of five years, and up to 40 years, in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

According to the plea agreement, Vorder Bruegge, using the internet monikers “JoeBlow73” and “JoeBlowFL,” distributed child *advertiser censored* on multiple occasions. He also collected child *advertiser censored* on his cellphone, including sex-abuse videos of babies and toddlers.

Vorder Bruegge also used his phone to film and publically share voyeur videos on the internet. He employed peepholes in bathrooms on the HCC campus to film college students while they were in restroom stalls. He then distributed those videos on websites that host voyeur content. Vorder Bruegge’s phone contained at least four videos capturing adult males through peepholes in public HCC restrooms.

This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Murray.

This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. @Larry Levine, I’m curious if you accept these “scum bags” as clients. It’s not clear from your website if you only accept “white collar” criminals or just about anyone regardless of the crime. I realize you’re trying to make a living, but is there a line you won’t cross? I’m genuinely curious. Thanks.

I am grateful for defense lawyers & the like. As a former professional in home child care provider & nanny, I used to worry about false allegations of abuse. Often when a child is abused, they will accuse someone else of the abuse. Someone they trust. Thankfully, I was never accused of anything. But it happens. People are wrongfully accused & convicted all the time.

Whenever I overhear someone speak poorly of defense attorneys, I ask them who they would turn to if they were falsely accused of a crime? And how important would that person then become in their life?

I appreciate the conviction notices, but this is another thread that needs a "Barf" button next to "Like!"

Thanks, LarryLevine for your updates on the (seemingly slow) wheels of Justice!

TAMPA – A St. Petersburg Police Department officer was arrested Thursday and charged by federal criminal complaint with distribution and possession of child *advertiser censored*. This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

According to the complaint, an individual using the screen name “thehoff727” distributed child *advertiser censored* on Snapchat, a mobile web-based communications application. On Sept. 11, HSI special agents executed a search warrant at Enhoffer’s home and seized several electronic devices. An examination of Enhoffer’s cellphone revealed a collection of child-pornographic images and videos, including multiple images and videos involving children under the age of 12 in bondage, being raped, and forced to perform sex acts.

Good Lord.....It just never stops. I wish every parent would read this thread. I try to tell other parents "uhhh, maybe you shouldn't let your son/daughter stay the night at so and so's house until you know the parent(s) really well (or never)" and I repeatedly hear "Oh they are fine!", "He's a doctor!", "They go to our church" blah blah blah. I generally end it with something like "Did you ever stop to question how many molested children are molested by strangers?" smh It makes me sick.

Regarding Enhoffer...What baffles me is that he is still living in his home, and has a female visitor on a daily basis. He was instructed to not possess a smart phone or have any internet access, but what’s stopping her from having that access while visiting? Who monitors this aspect of things?

Former Pasco assistant principal get 35 years for child *advertiser censored*, sexual abuse
November 5, 2019
TAMPA — A federal judge sentenced a former Pasco County assistant school principal to 35 years in prison Tuesday, capping a horrifying criminal case that also ensnared a school transportation manager.

Kyle Dale Ritsema admitted to sexually abusing and possessing pornographic images of a teenage boy. His sentence came shortly after it was revealed in court that he suffers from HIV and may have exposed others to the infection.

“I am incredibly ashamed of my behavior and I will carry that shame as long as I live,” Ritsema said. He wept as he listened to the testimony of his family members, and later tried to explain that his actions arose from a desire for acceptance and love.

“I don’t know completely why I did this,” he said. “I am anything but a monster.”

Former Pasco County Assistant Principal Pleads Guilty To Producing, Distributing, And Possessing Child *advertiser censored*

Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez announces that Kyle Dale Ritsema (36, Land O’ Lakes) today pleaded guilty to producing, distributing, and possessing child *advertiser censored*. Ritsema faces a minimum mandatory of 15 years, and up to 30 years, for producing child *advertiser censored*, a minimum mandatory term of 5 years, and up to 20 years, in federal prison for each of the two child *advertiser censored* distribution charges, and a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment for the possession charge. In total, Ritsema faces up to 80 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

According to court documents, starting at least as early as November 2014 until his arrest in February 2018, Ritsema enticed a 14-year-old child on the internet application “Grindr.” Ritsema knew that the boy was a minor during the time when they were in contact. Ritsema met the child in person and had sex with him on at least five occasions over the course of approximately one year. On one such occasion, Ritsema had sex with the child and used his smartphone to take several explicit photos of the child. That same day, Ritsema shared graphic details of that encounter and transmitted the explicit photos to multiple other individuals.

Beginning in March 2017, and continuing until his arrest in this case, Ritsema had been an Assistant Principal (Vice Principal) at Cypress Creek Middle High School in Pasco County. Before holding that position, Ritsema was the Assistant Principal at Pine View Middle School (appointed in July 2015), an Assistant Principal Administrative Intern at River Ridge Middle School (appointed in January 2015), and a math teacher and math coach at Paul R. Smith Middle School, Gulf Highland Elementary School, and Seven Springs Middle School (beginning in 2006).

Ex-St. Pete cop to plead guilty to child *advertiser censored* charges
January 16, 2020
TAMPA — A former St. Petersburg police officer will plead guilty to two child *advertiser censored* charges, according to documents filed Wednesday in federal court.

Matthew Enhoffer and federal prosecutors struck a plea agreement that calls for the ex-officer to plead guilty to one count of distribution of child *advertiser censored* and one count of possession of child *advertiser censored*.

Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The distribution charge also carries a mandatory minimum of five years.

It will be left to a federal judge to sentence Enhoffer, 34. But his attorneys can argue for leniency. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 4 to plead guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors agreed to dismiss a second count of distribution of child *advertiser censored*, according to the plea agreement filed in the Middle District of Florida.

Former St. Petersburg Police Officer Pleads Guilty To Distribution And Possession Of Child *advertiser censored*
Tampa, Florida – Matthew Enhoffer (34, St. Petersburg) today pleaded guilty to distribution and possession of child *advertiser censored*. He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 5 years, and up to 20 years, in federal prison.

According to court documents, agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual had distributed child *advertiser censored* on a web-based social media application. The investigation led agents to Enhoffer’s residence.

On September 11, 2019, HSI agents executed a search warrant at Enhoffer’s home and seized several electronic devices. An examination of Enhoffer’s devices revealed that he possessed approximately 391 images and 7 videos depicting child *advertiser censored*, and 293 images of child erotica. The images and videos depicted young children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. A forensic analysis of Enhoffer’s laptop also revealed that he had distributed child sex abuse material to another individual via the internet in June and July 2018.

Massachusetts Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Paying Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity over Skype
I just want to point out that I believe a punishment of 5 years may have been a little excessive for this crime.

consider:
1. The boy was 17, one year away from consent
2. Actual physical interaction did not happen
3. The boy willingly did this on his own, there was no force, coercion, or deceit
4. The "victim" was the one who did the sex acts and sent the video

There have been persons who committed (real) rape and have been sentenced to less time in several European countries. (Not that that is any excuse, but just something to note and point out here, for the sake of comparison)

Former St. Pete cop gets 8 years for child *advertiser censored*
TAMPA — A former St. Petersburg police officer who collected and shared sexual pictures and videos of children should serve eight years in prison, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Matthew Enhoffer, who resigned from the St. Petersburg Police Department last year as federal agents searched his computers, must also serve 10 years of supervision after his release, U.S. District Judge Mary Scriven ruled.

He will also be barred from using computers without permission from a probation officer, cannot have contact with children, must undergo mental health treatment and must register as a sex offender for life.

Enhoffer, 35, pleaded guilty in February to possession and distribution of child *advertiser censored*.

He said little in court Wednesday. But in a 12-page handwritten letter to the judge, he wrote of an addiction to *advertiser censored*. He said he had struggled to understand the root cause. Although he was aware of his problems, he said he did not know where to turn for help.
[...]
A forensic psychologist diagnosed Enhoffer with a pedophilia disorder, but noted there is no indication that Enhoffer harmed any children. A report also noted that Enhoffer would be amenable to treatment and carries heavy guilt.

This guy got busted last summer.

Jon Michael Smith of West York, Pennsylvania, charged with 11 counts dissemination of child *advertiser censored*, and 1000 counts possession of child *advertiser censored*. When initially questioned, he admitted to having anywhere from 3000 to 5000 images and videos of children being assaulted and exploited.

I'm going to go ahead and guess they just charged him with an even 1000 to keep his docket on the US Judicial Portal at a (barely) reasonable 67 pages.

Someone posted his bond and he was out a month after his initial arrest. Had an unfortunate and unexpected face-to-face with him in early August, which is how I learned he'd been sprung.

Issue I'm having is that his docket online has shown no activity for months. The last scheduled event I've seen was a pre-trial hearing in late October of 2020, and that was last updated before the event. There's been no activity or news since that I've been able to track down. I'm wondering whether or not this could be because of Covid?

Regardless, I've got a weird sort of history with the guy, and I've been able to learn things about him from (former) mutual friends, and the guy is absolutely dangerous, and not just to children. Can anyone offer some tips as to how to track the status of his case?

Lynn District Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer Arrested for Sexually Exploiting a Child

BOSTON – An Assistant Chief Probation Officer for Lynn District Court was arrested today and charged in federal court in Boston with child exploitation.

Brian Orlandella, 46, of Beverly, was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of transfer of obscene material to a minor. Orlandella appeared in federal court in Boston today and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on Friday.

According to the charging document, in May 2018, a mother in Texas contacted the local police about messages she found on her 13-year-old daughter’s cell phone between her daughter and an adult man, later identified as Orlandella. The messages, sent via Kik, revealed conversations in which the man sent the minor images of himself masturbating and directed her to send him naked pictures and videos of her. She told him she was 14-years-old, and he acknowledged that he is much older than she is.

Authorities were able to trace the suspect’s Kik account’s IP address to Orlandella’s residence in Beverly, Mass., where law enforcement executed a search warrant this morning and seized phones that are now undergoing forensic analysis.

The charge of sexual exploitation of children provides for a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and up to 30 years in prison, a minimum of five years and up a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. The charge of transfer of obscene material to a minor provides for a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $150,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Peter C. Fitzhugh, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Boston, made the announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anne Paruti, Lelling’s Project Safe Childhood Coordinator and a member of the Major Crimes Unit, is prosecuting the case.

Not sure, but your Prosecuting Attorney/District Attorney's office probably has a Victim Advocate on staff. That person should be able to help you & provide information about the case. At least suggest who to contact to pass on your information!

You may have a useful & valuable piece of the puzzle.
