This has confounded things even more for me. How does the fact that the car was seen at toll booths AFTER the flight departed necessarily indicate there was no foul play? I can see in one scenario that you could say they became lost, and due to that, missed their flight. Were these toll booths en route to the airport? Where did the car end up? I have more questions now than I had before.

Not a lot of info in any of these news articles:N.Y. Couple Goes Missing on Vacation in Dominican Republic: 'Something Strange Has Happened' They never checked out of hotel.
PEOPLE was unable to reach Moore or Ravenelle’s family for comment.
According to the Post, relatives say the couple never checked out of their hotel and never returned their rental car. Both their phones are off.
I noted, unless I am wrong, that the car was seen at a toll booth, it did not say they were seen int it. In fact, I would have to look again, but I believe it was seen from the rear in which case I doubt it would show who was driving it...
A map of the route (assuming I have the correct Airport) it appears there are 3 tolls on the route:

For reference only - it is MOO.
Edited for spelling
IMO they were mugged and whoever did this has/had the car. This is not good.
When you say mugged, is it meant to imply they were left stranded when their car was stolen? Or that they were murdered and then the car taken?
I noted the exact same thing and had the same exact questions. Should be able to track cell phones and try to link that info with the route being traveled by the car, but I am unversed on the DR's law enforcement saavy and whether they even have this ability available to them.

Given how much time has passed I would say murdered. I guess I just hated to out and out say it.When you say mugged, is it meant to imply they were left stranded when their car was stolen? Or that they were murdered and then the car taken?
