Police say a caretaker noticed a flower pot was out of place at Perry Cemetery and moved it. When he dumped the contents of the pot out, a six pound infant spilled out.

The baby was a 34-week-old girl, weighed just under six pounds, and had the umbilical cord still attached.

The medical examiner couldn't determine her race, and whether she was born alive. More tests are being conducted.

Jolene DeVito with police says the flower pot was placed in the cemetery between February 27 and March 2.

"We are asking anyone that knew someone who was pregnant prior to this discovery and is no longer pregnant. Someone knows something wasn't right and perhaps could help us," she says.

Hopefully, DNA will make it easy to track her parents, especially if any of the extended family has uploaded their DNA to one of the public websites. I wonder what or who the mother was so afraid of that she thought this was her only option. Very sad indeed.

Texas woman, 18, says she's the mother of baby whose body was found in cemetery flowerpot

The mother of a baby who was found buried inside a flowerpot at a Texas cemetery last month came forward to authorities after seeing news coverage of the story, officials said.

The unidentified 18-year-old woman identified herself as the mother of the baby, the Carrollton Police Department stated in a news release Monday.

So where’s the baby’s Dad? While this was a very poor decision on her part, there had to be a Dad in the picture. Did he know she was pregnant? Did he abuse or scare her so bad she felt this was her only option? Did her parents control, scare or abuse her to the point she felt she had to hide the pregnancy? There’s more to this story, I think anyway.

She initially told authorities she gave birth and the child was not moving or breathing. However, she changed her story after investigators found a photo of the baby alive on her cellphone, according to an arrest affidavit.

Lopez later admitted to authorities that she gave birth in a bathroom while her family members were home, and, when the baby was about to cry, she covered its mouth and held it against her body for about one or two minutes, according to KDFW.

She later put the baby in a backpack and left the apartment to meet a friend. She said when she got to her friend’s car, she knew the baby was dead by then.

Mother of Baby Found Buried in Flower Pot at Texas Cemetery Charged With Murder

Jazmin Lopez, 18, of Dallas had originally told police that she passed out after giving birth on Feb. 4, and when she regained consciousness, the child was not breathing.

However, according to the Dallas Morning News, investigators soon found photographs of the baby on Lopez’s phone, which indicated that her daughter was not born dead. They also found text messages that indicated that she had considered taking abortion pills, as well as searches for abortion facilities on her phone

Ugh, the only other thing I could find is that as of May 9, she is out on 250k bail. I can't find any other background or future court info

She gave birth in a bathroom at home. How did no one in that home not notice the mess? You don’t deliver a baby, set it down, deliver the placenta, flush the toilet, then clean up the bathroom! She’s protecting someone in that home for some reason. Again, where’s the baby’s father?
