SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Springfield resident Felton Warren, 62, has been missing for more than a week.

"We're doing a search operation, attempting to locate Felton Warren," said Springfield Police Department's Lieutenant Russell Voyles.

Springfield Police Department, Bay County Search and Rescue, human remain dogs, and many volunteers spread through the city Saturday.

"That's going to be the house Mr. Warren was at, and the road that we just passed was Helen Avenue and this is Sanders, so he was kind of seen right here in this area," said Springfield Police Department Investigator Amanda Shanahan.

Lieutenant Voyles said people would be checking abandoned houses and tracking the area around Martin Lake.

Officials say Warren left his home around 9:30 a.m. April 12th and no one has seen him since.

"The family needs resolution at this point," said Lieutenant Voyles.

Warren also reportedly sustained a recent injury.

"He also had a head injury about a month or month and a half ago, he's been acting a little bit strange since then, according to his family and friends," said Lieutenant Voyles.

Warren's family is praying for the best.

"He's a son, a brother, uncle, he's got family that misses him and wants him home," said Warren's daughter, Cheryl Warren.

They're begging anyone with information to please come forward.

"If anybody knows anything, has seen him, has heard of anything, anything, to call into Springfield Police Department and let them know. Anything will help right now," said Warren's sister, Shirely Lusk.

The search ended around 3:30 p.m. Saturday with no trace of Warren.

Warren is not wanted by Springfield police for any reason other than a welfare check. Police said he does not have any active warrants.

Authorities continue search for Springfield missing man

Since then, Springfield Police have been searching on their own but brought in reinforcements on Saturday. Around 40 members of the Bay County Search and Rescue team as well as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission were part of the large scale search.

"This was the first day we could do that we were able to get a coordinated effort together. We didn't want to put anything together haphazardly. We wanted to make sure it was coordinated and we can make sure we can check all the areas as best as possible," said Lieutenant Russell Voyles with the Springfield Police Department.

The group split up into seven teams and took on different areas.

Voyles said, "We have a large residential area around his home. We're mainly going to have walkers there. We're going to have some people checking out abandoned houses again and then the handlers with human remain dogs will be searching this area around Martin Lake. There's a large wooded area here behind Everett Middle School and Springfield Elementary and then there are a couple of other wooded areas we're going to search as well."

"He was stressed out the last time I'd seen him. Just down. Depressed," said his sister Shirley Lusk.

Voyles says Warren also had a few health complications. "He potentially had a stroke in the last couple months and he also had a head injury a month, month and a half ago."

Voyles says they are now going to review more leads and hopefully schedule another large scale search soon.
