GUILTY Canada - Jasmine Lovett, mid 20s, and daughter, 2, Calgary, 16 April 2019 *Arrest*

Let's hope, for some reason, he's simply a bumbling criminal, no matter the motive. And that his mouth will eventually lead LE to the bodies. He seems to have too many connections to the victims, the areas being searched, the mysterious mulch, etc. Motive is hard to determine, to me. If money, she doesn't seem to have any more than he does, and he seems too naive to be the leader of some prostitution ring. Accidental and then a cover-up was needed? Maybe. All JMO and based on what I've read and heard from him.

I was thinking accidental and cover up as well as a possible thing.

Canada Police Report

Calgary, Alberta – Today, Monday, April 29, 2019, marks Day 6 of the investigation into the disappearance of Jasmine LOVETT and Aliyah SANDERSON. The search in the Bragg Creek/ Kananaskis area remains paused due to significant snow accumulation in the area.

Through the investigation police believe the suspect may have attempted to destroy evidence related to the homicide by means of burning, some time between Tuesday, April 16, and Saturday, April 20, in the area of Bragg Creek, Elbow Falls, Priddis and/or East Kananaskis. Anyone who may have seen signs of a suspicious fire in an unusual area, not in a designated fire pit, is asked to contact police.

Police continue to seek witnesses to the movements of a grey, Mercedes SUV in the same area. For further details, please see Update #3.

A forensic search of the home in Cranston has been completed and the residence has been released to the homeowner.

Alberta Police Report

Mother, daughter missing: Calgary police say suspect may have burned evidence

Notes from Police Update
  • Reviewing lots of CCTV footage,
  • primary concern is that weather is hampering efforts to search for victims in rural area,
  • privacy laws in Canada prevent identifying suspect until charges are laid,
  • domestic conflict unit is involved in investigation,
  • exact nature of relationship between victims and suspect is still being investigated,
  • police want to know about suspicious fires in the Kananaskis area that were not in designated burn areas / firepits,
  • residence has been returned to homeowner,
  • primary goal is to search Kananaskis area, weather and terrain and wildlife are major concerns,
  • complex investigation involving review of all electronic devices,
  • this is day 6 of investigation,
  • SAR, RCMP, Fish and Wildlife all involved,
  • no charges laid so no restrictions on suspect's travel (doesn't Ireland have no extradition?),
  • still trying to narrow down search areas,
  • Cranston search is complete,
  • items may have been purchased to dispose of evidence

I thought I heard him say he was from England? Not sure if Ireland or England have extradition or not though.

He is from the UK, but for now he has no job, no vehicle, and no travel restrictions, so there's nothing preventing him from going to a country that does not have extradition treaties with Canada.

Dominican Republic is an option.

I'm thinking he doesn't have a lot of liquid assets; that condo was likely a stretch for him to buy. Also, he could only remain in DR for 30 days without a visa. And he wouldn't be allowed to work. Because he's not a DR citizen, they'd likely be happy to ship him back to Canada as he'd have no right to stay there past 30 days.

She was last heard from April 16 (by family I presume). No one reported her missing until she didn't show up for family dinner April 23. That's a week he had to possibly dispose of bodies (mulch/burn) and evidence, to clean up, etc.
Once again LE is starting behind the 8 ball, as we say. Not necessarily their fault in this case. JMO

Was wondering if anybody here would be able to help with this. Earlier this month Jasmine and her 22 month old daughter Aliyah went missing and are now presumed dead. They held a suspect for 24 hours (Robert Leeming) who lived with them, but they have not discovered the bodies yet and have been unable to arrest Leeming.

Timeline: Suspected double homicide investigation of missing mother Jasmine Lovett, daughter Aliyah Sanderson

Leeming has been appearing on the news and answering reporters questions:
Suspect in double homicide returns home; police say evidence may have been burned

He appears to be guilty, as in one video the reporters ask him when the last time Leeming saw the 2 and he said the week before, but afterwards when Nancy Hixt, a local reporter, asks why the police pinged his phone to the Bragg creek area the weekend the 2 went missing, he says he took them out for a picnic, then brought them home.

He has a prior for neglect of an animal, he has a facebook page with pictures of his son, but I can't find too much else about him. I really hope they get enough evidence to arrest him, but thought maybe WS could help out if possible. Any thoughts?

RL is back in his house. According to the Calgary Herald, he was married to a Canadian woman: Suspect in double homicide returns home; police say evidence may have been burned
He says HE is doing as well as can be expected? So good to know (cue sarcasm).

Also this:
Homicide Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta said the ongoing investigation has unearthed evidence that suggests the suspect may have burned evidence sometime after the pair disappeared.

”Through the investigation, we have learned that items may have been purchased that would destroy evidence,” he said.

“It’s a very complex, dynamic investigation and we’re processing lots and lots of evidence and going through dozens and dozens of tips.”

Police said they believe evidence may have been burned some time between April 16 and April 20 in the area of Bragg Creek, Elbow Falls, Priddis and/or East Kananaskis, but wouldn’t discuss what items may have been used or who purchased them.

Bet he bought and filled a jerry can or two.

That's interesting. He came to Canada after marrying a Canadian. I wonder if that's when he bought the townhouse.

Could animal charges be related to leaving a dog in a hot vehicle?

"Leeming, who said the last time he saw the missing pair was on the evening of April 18, is originally from the U.K. and moved to Canada six years ago after marrying a Canadian woman who he is no longer in a relationship with.
...

"Court records obtained by Postmedia show Leeming pleaded guilty last May in the Priddis area with three animal cruelty charges, including causing an animal to be in distress, failing to provide adequate food an water and failing to provide adequate shelter. He was ordered to pay $5,000 in fines by August 2019 and handed a 10-year ban on owning animals."
