Good point, very probably had some stints in psych hospitals.
I wonder if he’s an alcoholic.

So many times psychological issues are not taken seriously in the Church because "they" think everything can be "prayed away."
In regards to the HLN... these were posted on another forum, which gives a good in depth view of the report."
“The Delphi Murders: Special Report - Susan Hendricks anchors a new report about the latest developments in the Delphi murders case.”
Things that stood out to me or are worth mentioning (paraphrased):
-Host says they told her they do have DNA.
-Former FBI Specialist says LE likely know the vehicle, they didn’t want to be bombarded with tips.
-Regarding the sketch, there was a lot of emphasis on the chin: lower lip to chin is disproportionate, it’s a strong, pronounced jaw that juts out. One panelist suggested an underbite.
-Criminologist, Casey Jordan, says it was brazen calling BG a coward at the press conference—this could be interpreted by BG as a challenge. She continues that they’re either close in their investigation or believe that he’s incredibly contained by public scrutiny that he won’t act out again.
-When Doug Carter mentions the book after “The Shack,” Casey Jordan believes he’s referring to the Bible. Briefly explores that maybe there’s something about him that is deemed wrong by his religion, giving the example of his sexuality, which may have something to do with why he killed. She also mentions that they’re playing on his religion by pleading with him to do the right thing—they’re going to get you, so just do the right thing.
-They discuss if this was a crime of opportunity. FBI Special Agent, Maureen O’Conell, says it’s a target-rich area. Casey Jordan says he might not be a serial killer, but all killers always have a fantasy and you don’t know when it’ll surface. Maybe his fantasy only involved one girl, but this was an opportunity.
-Hosts asked if the panel if they believe LE is close: -Certified Death Investigator is confident. -Criminologist says yes, but that if it’s not solved in the coming weeks, the press conference could’ve been a Hail Mary. -Defense Attorney believes they’re close and that the pressure is on—his time is up. -FBI Special Agents says he’s suffering and freaking out right now; believes they’ll solve the case soon; forensic genealogy is likely being utilized.
I wouldn't think it necessarily means anything. It's journalistic cliche to say it was a brutal murder, just like it's always a fiery accident if the car catches fire.
K. Jill, fascinating! Thanks for bumping it. I’m sure the whole websleuths community wasn’t buying that Good Samaritan story (the Hannah Graham case, not Delphi).
I’m assuming predators recognize each other as a fellow predator. I’m very intrigued by the theory Old Sketch Guy was a SO who was arrested and spilled some info from being on the bridge hunting that day. Surely he and BG caught on to each other.

Lots of chin talk!! If I were in Delphi I would be looking pretty closely at my long chinned acquaintances right now
I think I recall this. For those of us who have been here a long time...remember in the early threads there was a local reporter doing a live interview. A train was passing thru during the interview. In the clip there was someone hanging around in the background, wearing a red jacket or hoodie. This person was discussed on the thread and the thoughts were that it was a younger person so it could not be BG. We were comparing to the first sketch. Since the new sketch and reference to a younger person, and likely a local, is that clip worth another look? I am curious. I wouldn't have any idea where to find that clip.
Unless I misheard, they were quoting the press conference directly and then elaborated on it. I do agree that media sometimes sensationalizes things. But, after reading enough stuff on this case (here and others,) it wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
I don’t think you get that kind of emotion from veteran LEO over just anything. Not that all murders aren’t terrible, but I think this was probably tougher than most to investigate.
Again, just my 2 cents.

I found this old link when sketch #1 was announced. Reading about is almost déjà vu but what I wanted to add, apparently the woman who saw this man was not on the trail, but somewhere “near”.

“Police say the sketch of the suspect is based off witness tips, including one woman who told police she saw this man near the Delphi Historic Trails the day Abby Williams and Libby German were murdered.”
Police release sketch of man accused of murdering Delphi teens Liberty German and Abigail Williams
Ugh, again this is such a terrible place to be, to be looking at your own acquaintances like this. It’s terrifying.
I think I recall this.
I am speculating that if old sketch guy is the new witness who sent the investigation in a new direction with a new sketch:
-investigators must have very good reason to think he is a credible witness.
-he may have seen more than just another lone male acting suspiciously, he may have witnessed the abduction.
- he did not come forward before because he was there that day for his own nefarious reasons that once he was arrested for something else he gave them information in exchange for a plea deal.
Lots of speculating on my part I know, just trying to fit some things together in my mind.
