New tips generating leads in Lorraine Roach case

A $50,000 reward for information about Lorraine Roach’s whereabouts is generating new leads.

A month ago, the OPP offered the award for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the disappearance of Ms Roach. Sgt. Peter Leon, spokesperson for the OPP says the press conference, which was aired on national news on Dec. 30, 2014, has been very beneficial to detectives.

“There has been a number of tips and additional information that detectives are following up on,” he explains.

“No matter how big or small that information is, it could very well be the piece of information that helps turn the corner on this case.”

I have been following this case closely and so many things just seem so strange.

Lorraine's son has been very open about blaming Lorraine's husband for the disappearance, but it seems that he has no proof. I just cannot believe someone could be as "convinced" as he claims but has not really stepped up to bat. Maybe it is just the way the media has presented this opinion but it seems like this guy is just a troublemaker who maybe has some past hostility to Lorraine's husband. It seems that way to me at least.

Have any other local Peterborough people heard of any searches for Lorraine? It seems like all searches have ceased. If anyone I was close to, much less my own mother, wife, friend, or sister, had gone missing I would be searching in some way every single day. I sometimes get the feeling that someone in or close to that family knows exactly what happened but is afraid to, or cannot, say. I have a keen interest in family psychology and it is not uncommon for families or friends to fall into deep denial or an emotionally paralyzed state after traumatic events. I just hope whoever out there knows something can report it. It's not fair for Lorraine's memory to leave her wherabouts up to chance.

Welcome to Ws. post-it!
Wonder if there is any chance that Lorraine chose to disappear?

Back in December, the Province offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Lorraine's disappearance.
The investigation is now in the hands of Detective Inspector Rob Hagerman of the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
This coming Monday will mark the second anniversary of the disappearance of Lorraine and investigators remain confident someone, out there, knows a detail that can solve this case and bring closure to her family.

He may have his reasons to think what he does, to be honest, my first thought is the husband simply because I don't really see many stranger abductions on 60 year old women.
Also, every case I have ever followed where the person has lied about the victims whereabouts around the time of their disappearance has turned out to have played a part in it.

If my father told everyone it was common for my mother to be gone for days, or that she was at a casino the night she went missing and LE found those things to not be true, I'd be giving him the hardcore side eye too. Can't blame the son for wondering WTF?

“Today marks the two-year anniversary of Lorraine’s disappearance and two years that the Roach family has had a Mother’s Day without being able to see their mother,” OPP Const. Jason Folz said Monday.
OPP have continually asked for the public’s assistance regarding any information on Roach’s disappearance. During a brief press conference near an sign dedicated to Roach on Chemong Rd., Folz reiterated that message.

That son has started his own FB page accusing Lorraine's husband. Lots of info and pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/LorraineRoachMissingFoulPlaySuspected

ETA: The son claims Lorraine's husbands vehicle was never searched as it was not included in the warrant. He also claims the husband still refuses to take a polygraph.

Speaks volumes to me.

If Lorrain's remains were disposed of where the son believes, that about an hours drive from my place.

A year following her disappearance, Lorraine’s son from her first marriage and stepson to George came out publicly and said he and Lorraine’s siblings believed George had something to do with his wife’s disappearance.
“We definitely speculate that something isn’t right and George is involved,” Lorraine’s son Andrew *advertiser censored* said in an interview with Peterborough This Week in 2014.
The three of them confronted George and straight out asked where Lorraine’s body is. George denied the allegation that he was involved.

The court has ruled Lorraine Roach dead.
"The then-58-year-old wife, sister, mother and grandmother was last seen at her Hilliard Street home by her husband, George Roach, in the early morning hours of May 11, 2013.

She was reported missing three days later, leading to a frantic search.

An OPP helicopter flew above the heavily wooded area where her Pontiac Montana van was found, near the access point to the Trans Canada Trail off Ackison Road on the west edge of Peterborough.

Peterborough County OPP and members of the Central East Region OPP emergency response team scoured the heavily-wooded area with the K-9 unit and all-terrain vehicles and used canoes to search bodies of water. Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Months turned into years, and still today, what happened to her is unknown.''

''Police also released images of Lorraine Roach who was seen at Galaxy Cinemas on Water Street around 6:40 p.m. on May 10, 2013. OPP said she appeared to be alone and purchased a ticket for the movie "Oblivion." A $50,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her disappearance.

Tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.''

Sorry, 2 posts in a row, just wondering if the movie (ticket for which, LR was seen purchasing) might suggest anything about Lorraine's state of mind when she went missing, or even provide a tiny clue of her whereabouts?
speculation, imo, fwiw.

''OPP say Lorraine Roach's disappearance remains a missing person's case, because no body - or pathology evidence suggesting something like a homicide - was found. Even though the 58-year-old Selwyn woman is presumed to be dead, that doesn't mean her family can find closure - especially as they spend another Mother's Day without Lorraine ... and without answers. In part two of Global's series "Looking for Lorraine: 10 Years Later," our Noor Ibrahim looks into where the case stands today, and why police continue their appeal for information ... despite no signs of Lorraine being alive.''

''May 11, 2023 marks 10 years since a 58-year-old Selwyn Township woman vanished without a trace...leaving behind so many loves ones, and so few answers. Lorraine Roach was reportedly last seen in the early morning hours of May 11, 2013. Her case has since captivated the Peterborough region, and many across Ontario. In Part 1 of Global Peterborough's series "Looking for Lorraine," Noor Ibrahim looks into the critical window of hours when Lorraine vanished.''
