Hannah Barker

Appeal After Woman Goes Missing On Night Out In Leeds.
Monday, May 20, 2019

Police are continuing to appeal for information to help trace a woman who has gone missing while on a night out in Leeds.

Hannah Barker, aged 21, from Whinmoor, went out with friends in Leeds city centre on Saturday night and was last seen when she left them at about 3.40am on Sunday (19/5) in Merrion Street.

She has not been seen since and there are concerns for her welfare.

Her car has been found parked in the St John’s Centre car park.

She was due at work this morning but has not turned up.

She is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall, and of large build. She has long blonde hair, nose piercings and tattoos on her left arm.

She was wearing black skinny jeans, a burgundy t-shirt and trainers.

Detective Inspector Melissa Porritt, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are very concerned for Hannah’s welfare as it is out of character for her to go missing like this and for her not to have been in touch with anyone.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to trace her movements in the city centre and would like to hear urgently from anyone who has seen her or who has any information that could assist us in tracing her.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting log number 853 of May 19 or reference 13190254486.

There's a river and a canal about 10 minutes walk away. The car park is on the same street she was last seen on.

There's tons of cameras round there too.

Theres CCTV in the car park. But I wonder if she had been drinking and therefore made alternative arrangements for going home?

I wonder what frame of mind she was in when last seen by friends.

Seems she had been at Key Club in the Merrion Centre (which shuts at 4am) so was literally across the road from St Johns car park, not that she'd have been planning to drive home if she was drunk.

Nowhere near water @LadyL. Leeds has a river but it's right over the other side of town and she'd have no reason to be near it.

CCTV - there is absolutely loads round there. By now the police should have a very good idea about where Hannah went. I used to work in the offices overlooking it and there are several businesses which will have cameras, as well as possibly road cameras. I wonder if the little park gates are locked at night? Mind you, it would take all of two minutes to search.

Been a while since I was out in town at 4am but I imagine it would still be fairly busy around there especially as there's a 24 hour McD's!

Last seen in Pudsey now.

Missing Hannah Barker Last Seen In Pudsey.
Tuesday, May 21, 2019

The focus of a police search for a missing woman from Leeds has moved to the Pudsey area as a result of new information.

Enquiries have now established that Hannah Barker, aged 21, from Whinmoor, was taken to Pudsey bus station by patrol officers after she was found asleep next to a main road in the city centre. She had not been reported as a missing person at that time.

Hannah Barker
A passing driver contacted police at 5.39am on Sunday (19/5) to report a woman lying on a grass verge off New Briggate, near to the A64 dual carriageway.

Officers attended at 5.45am and found she had fallen asleep there after a night out drinking. There were no obvious concerns for her welfare and she asked to be driven to Pudsey bus station. She was dropped off there at about 6.15am.

Checks on CCTV in the area show she walked from the bus station in Market Place to the junction of Hough Side Road and Swinnow Road, reaching there at 6.23am. This is currently the last known sighting of her.

Hannah was reported missing by her father shortly after 1pm that day when she failed to return to their home in Whinmoor.

She had gone out with friends on Saturday evening and had last been seen by them shortly before 4am when she left them in the vicinity of Merrion Street.

Her car was later found parked in the St John’s Centre car park and she did not turn up for work on Monday morning.

She is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall, and of large build. She has long mousy brown hair, nose piercings and tattoos on her left arm. She was last seen wearing black skinny jeans, a burgundy t-shirt and trainers.

Detective Inspector Al Burns, of Leeds District CID, said: “The focus of our search to find Hannah has moved to the Pudsey area given what we have now been able to establish around her movements.

“Although this has given us a clearer picture of her recent whereabouts and her demeanour at the time, we still remain very concerned for her welfare given the length of time she has now been missing without making contact with her family or friends.

“We are continuing to carry out a trawl of CCTV in the area around where she was last seen and have officers conducting other enquiries with support from specialist search teams.

“We are still very keen to hear from anyone who has seen Hannah in the Pudsey area since about 6.15am on Sunday or who has any other information that could assist us in tracing her.

“Her parents are understandably very concerned about where she is and we urgently need to find her and check that she is okay.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting log number 853 of May 19 or reference 13190254486.

Hannah went to high school in Pudsey so I'm wondering if she still has family there. Her dad lives in Whinmoor on t'other side of the city but maybe her mum is still in the area. It'd be useful to know where she might have been heading but her last seen location is residential and I can't imagine there'd be much traffic or many pedestrians about at 6 on a Sunday morning.

TIMELINE - 19th May

3:40am Hannah is on Merrion Street after a night at The Key Club, her car is parked in the multi storey opposite.

5:39am Police called when Hannah is spotted asleep on a grass verge in the city centre, not far from Merrion Street

5:45am Police arrive and give her a lift to Pudsey

6:15am approx Dropped off at Pudsey bus station in the market place

6:23am Hannah reaches the junction of Swinnow Road and Hough Side Road, about half a mile away, and that is her last known location.

Hmm, it does sound like she is hopefully sleeping it off. By now I am hoping she is just embarrassed about the situation and lets her parents know where she is.

It's been 56 hours since she was last seen though - that's a long sleep by anyones standards!

Fingers crossed she's at a friend's house or something, but at age 21 with a job you'd hope they'd have realised she's been reported missing by now.

I'm looking on maps at where she was last seen. It doesn't really look like a nice area, but it doesn't look dangerous either. If she turned down Swinnow Road, there doesn't seem to be much down that way. The train station, the A647, and eventually a couple of parks (Bramley park and the rugby club) but otherwise just residential. Going down Hough side road would take her onto Pudsey road and next to Farnley Beck, and there's also a nature trail. Following the beck past the roundabout leads to a lake. I find it hard to believe she wouldn't be on CCTV or have been seen by anyone if she walked as far as the parks or the lake, though. I have a bad feeling about this. 56 hours is a long time...

She should reevaluate her drinking habit - drink less.
