Los Angeles police say they've recovered a pickup truck stolen with a 7-year-old boy inside, but the carjacking suspect and the child are still missing.

Officials say the Chevrolet Silverado was found abandoned in Beverly Hills, a few miles from where it was stolen Thursday afternoon.

The boy's father, Angelo Marks, tells KABC-TV that the pickup was taken by a friend of his. Marks says he had been driving around with his son and the friend when he stopped for some food. He says his friend grew aggravated, punched Marks in the head and drove off in the truck with the boy in the back seat.

This is confusing... It states Marks didn't identity the suspect but he knows him. And he punch him in the head. I hope he doesn't hurt that boy.

The above link has been updated:

"The incident began as a dispute between the child's father and uncle, the father told KTLA. The uncle punched the father, threw him out of the truck and drove off with the child inside, he said.

The boy's father told KTLA around 7 p.m. that the child was safely at a relative's home.

Police would not confirm whether the boy had been found, but did say investigators determined the incident was not a kidnapping. The investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information was urged to contact police."

Pickup Truck Carjacked With 7-Year-Old Boy Inside in L.A.’s Mid-Wilshire Neighborhood: Police

BBM. Sounds like this was a hoax or something? o_O
MOO.

sounds like the dad was pissed off at the uncle... glad the boy's with a relative and safe.

Suspect arrested:

The suspect later took the child to the LAPD's Wilshire Station and the boy was reunited with his father, Im said. The suspect -- identified as 25-year-old Nicky Jace -- was arrested and will be booked on suspicion of carjacking and kidnapping, Im said.

"We were able to coordinate with the man to bring the son back here to the police station," said LAPD Wilshire Capt. Tim Norquist.

A man identified only as Marks' cousin said the situation is not right.

"It's not right. No kid should be caught in the middle of nothing," he said. "no kid should hear you scream, holler argument with anybody."

According to LAPD, the boy was never in danger.

"We wish they would have been able to resolve their differences without it resulting in this type of situation," Capt. Norquist said. "We're glad for the good timing."

BBM. I guess LE decided it was a kidnapping?

Confusing, but I'm happy to read that the boy was never really in danger and is safe now. This sounds like it was a petty fight between relatives acting childish. MOO.
