Information sought on missing woman from Lincoln County

KEMMERER – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is seeking anyone with information on a missing woman from Lincoln County. Joann Hakes went missing on Jan. 3, 2015 from Lincoln County. Friends of a woman missing since Jan. 3 are asking for the public’s help in locating her. According to a post on the Journal’s Facebook page, Joann Hakes, a former Pocatello resident is missing from Wyoming under suspicious circumstances. She was last seen leaving the Silver Stream Lodge in a truck with two male acquaintances, she took only her debit card with her and left behind her cell phone, purse, car and clothes and she has not been seen since. Hakes is 42, she is described as being five feet-six inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. She has “bleached” blond hair.

Missing woman may be in Pocatello area

According to a post on the Journal’s Facebook page, Joann Hakes was last seen leaving the Silver Stream Lodge in a truck with two male acquaintances, she took only her debit card with her and left behind her cell phone, purse, car and clothes and she has not been seen since.

According to her FB, she knows several truck drivers and "shady" characters. If she was taken against her will IMO she is SE and is not back in her hometown - though I am curious why they think she would be and why no one has seen here there in all this time.

Family members of a Pocatello native who went missing from Afton, Wyoming, in January 2015 are still asking for the public’s help in locating her.

Joann Hakes, 45, was last seen on Jan. 3, 2015, leaving the Silver Stream Lodge in North Lincoln County near Afton, according to Capt. Brian Andrews with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

“The circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious,” Andrews said. “But with no leads or any new information the case went cold and has since been assigned to the Wyoming Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.”

A man has been arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping in connection to the murder of Joann Hakes near Etna, Wyo. in 2015.

On May 18, 2019, human remains were found on a property located near Etna, Wyoming.

An investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, Wyoming State Crime Lab, and the Lincoln County Coroner's Office found those remains have been positively identified as the remains of missing person Joann Hakes.

On Tuesday, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office agents along with authorities from the Idaho State Patrol and the Chubbuck Police Department executed a search warrant for an apartment in Chubbuck and an arrest warrant for Ronald Todd Weerheim for first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping.
