Yeah, I don’t think it’ll be a good idea for him to have the baby if they keep in contact even if he got his life together because that mother should never be acknowledged in any kids life. IMO. But, since he’s already back in jail since failing his drug test and he has those violent felony charges, hopefully he goes to prison as it is and someone else gets to raise her. If he is the father this already is somewhat similar to AJs beginning of his story. Drugs being in the picture from birth. Except obviously a male version of JC.

Exactly. Early on we discussed the likelihood that he might want custody. As we know he will have parental rights if he’s the bio. I’m concerned he has family that might wish to raise the baby if he is the dad. Kinda help him out until he get his life together which I doubt he ever will. Let’s hope he agrees to an adoption, with no contact. As it is now, “she” has agreed to leave the child in state custody, but the father has not, because dad is unknown.
I’d love to know if JC has been in contact with him.

This might sound like a really dumb question but I’m unfamiliar with how they do custody from jail. She “agreed” to let state have custody. What other options did she have?

What a sick pair. SMH. DCFS better not let him near any child ever. Neither are fit for the responsibility of scrubbing gas station toilets. Much less caring for children.

I think she could possibly arrange a family member take temp custody. But, iiirc she doesn’t get along with her mom, so she wouldn’t allow her custody, imo. I think she’s probably hoping her boyfriend will get her.
 
In Illinois, consideration for children born to mothers serving time is given to family members if it's in the best interest of the child. Court documents obtained by CNN on Thursday said the father of Cunningham's baby is not Freund.


A cell phone video led to father's confession in the killing of AJ Freund.
"If the father is able to care for the newborn, they would have custody of the child," Strokosch said. "If there isn't a father available and absent other plans, DCFS becomes involved. We would work with the courts to create a plan for the child based on the best interest of the newborn."


*wanted to repost this. I truly think Joann does not wish for her mom to raise the baby. There might be animosity due to her mom having the eldest son, jmo.
I also think the family raising the little boy might want the little girl. Jmo

Nowicki was reportedly moved out of the Dole Avenue house at the time of his arrest, but he confirmed Monday that he did live with Cunningham and Freund for a period of time.

AJ, he said, was like his own son.

“It’s been hell,” Nowicki said.

Although Nowicki had some knowledge of Cunningham hitting AJ with a belt, he never witnessed any of the violence described in police reports and affidavits that have been made public since the boy’s death, he said.

“I don’t know what happened ...,” Nowicki said

God I hope this man is never allowed to be around any children, EVER. Was he ever sober or sane enough to even be able to make an observation?

I think the younger son's paternity is also in question. So is Nowicki his dad also? Does the timeline work for that, or is there a third sperm donor?

Just keep all of them locked up,and far,far,far,far away from children. He's not even around safe police officers. So DCSF better not even think about him as a placement,but I seriously won't hold my breath on that. Because their abysmal track record so far proves why We should have no faith in them.

Time of arrest was December iirc. That poor baby was locked in his room in September as they backdated charges from then from evidence. Smh. I wish they would slap him with the same backdated charge because he allowed it apparently. He may not have been around when that precious boy was killed, but it looks like he could’ve at least tried to prevent it.

SMH He loved A.J. like his own son. That right there is enough to tell DCSF,and Judge that he should not ever be anywhere near this new precious baby,or any child ever period. I won't hold my breath thinking they will put what's best for this child or any children over what the Sperm,and egg donor want. May as well go back to making children squeeze down coal choked chimneys, and working themselves to the bone for eighteen hours a day. With DCSF,and these judges in charge.

I asked a nurse friend about this (she’s mgr of premier unit) & she thinks what is meant is that JC spent two days in the hospital & it is unlikely she had any physical contact with her, if she did it was brief & monitored. Amen

I agree! She may have been in the hospital for 2 days but didn't spend the 2 days with the baby. She's being charged with murder of her child. They're not going to let her alone with the baby.

Love the baby's name! I hope her life is filled with grace and faith.

5/30/19: Custody hearing: 4 year old place in temporary foster care. Cunningham is currently pregnant and expected to give birth within weeks. Assistant State’s Attorney Julia Almeida said her office had not received the results of the DNA testing for the younger brother & Freund. She set June 23 as the deadline. The testing could have a bearing on custodial rights Andrew Freund has. Next Status & motions hearing on 6/18 for both.
