Tracy's testimony is gut wrenching.
Am also struck by the fact that Taylor is still there to support her father until the end. Sad to see, actually.
The ripple effect or as the PT has said the butterfly effect.
And CM seemed cold and removed from all the testimony.
Trying desperately to look like a lawyer, still. Actually taking notes? One can only imagine what he is writing.

Did anyone suspect CM before his arrest for this unspeakable crime?

Interestingly enough—a few days ago, I dug back into the first couple of threads where Websleuths first discovered their disappearance, and there were a few people saying: “I bet it’s that guy who makes fountains for them.”

But, I wasn’t reading for most of the 4.5 years before he was arrested—I have the impression that people pursued a multitude of other theories during that time.

His nightmare has been going on for years, even before the arrest.
Always wondering.
I am pleased his health definitely has suffered throughout all this, and will continue to decline.
Now, he knows there is 'no lucky breaks', as previously, with these murders ruining this creep completely.
Very pleasing.
MOO.
I *think* because of his sociopathic and narcissistic personality, he didn't have nightmares about the murders.
I don't even think he has nightmares of prison at this point, only ones of how he was done an injustice, his attorneys betrayed him, and how in the world could a jury convict such a talented artist like himself.
The tears we saw earlier in the trial were only CM mimicking what he believes one does when they're supposed to, We DID see his flashes of anger, almost rage, for brief moments.
Only someone like that could wipe out a family with a sledgehammer and then head off to the casino.

Patrick McStay did say during the time they were "missing" that one of the people Joey worked with had a record. CM is the only one I know of. There was also mention that Patrick let CM get "close" in an attempt to get information, whether through the "book" CM claimed he was writing or just "theories. Force10 would know more about that.

Some here were hoping they just walked away. But among those who thought they were dead, there were many theories pursued: Mikey, or Joey’s ex-wife’s husband, or even Summer did it. In fact there was a writer RB who wrote a scathing book accusing Summer. He was interviewed by Tricia and participated in the thread for awhile as a member (the threads are still available). IIRC CM helped provide info for his book. Even after they were found, I seem to recall that Patrick didn’t think CM was involved immediately. So CM seemed to fly under the radar here for the most part.

I see a lot of new people on this chat board about the murders of the McStay family in Fallbrook.
I have a statement to make, in case anyone gets confused.
I am NOT a member of either Joey's or Summer's families.
Nor, have I ever claimed to be.
I am simply a concerned person who lives in Fallbrook that wanted to help find this missing family.
That's it.
That the search for these four people ended up being one of the most terrible crimes I have ever heard of-has wrenched my heart.
However, I am not a family member, nor an insider.
I am just a neighbor who completely understands Joey and Summer's lifestyle.
It is very similar to ours.
I will be forever heartbroken about the cruelty this family endured.
But, never as heartbroken as their loving family members have endured.
I know, I said endured twice.
I will always mourn the lives of these four innocents.
This crime is beyond awful, and horrible like no movie director has even thought of.
I've only been observing. And it still hurts my heart so bad that anyone could slaughter this family.

This ^^^. I think you hit the nail on the head.

I did. After I read his very first media interview I posted that I had bad vibes about him. I'm sure I posted that but I can't be bothered to try and find my post. Maybe I just liked a post that said the same thing I was feeling. I felt a bit uncomfortable at the time because many people thought he was genuine. I was creeped out by him from the beginning, which was just a gut feeling with no basis.

Probably notes to himself for when he talks to CJ, so he remembers to tell her she needs to put $$$ on his books.

Yes, I watched an interwiev in the beginning and said to myself: Look at him, he is lying. He did it. I had no doubt, that came later bcs I thought LE had him ruled out and I hoped they were in Mexico. When they were found and Merrit was arrested I said FINALLY!!!
