Defense attorney Robert Larr now presenting opening statements
Defense gave rather short remarks during opening statements, lasting about 5 minutes. Robert Larr told the jury that prosecutors have to prove that Scott Nelson killed the victim
Prosecution now calling its witnesses in the #ScottNelson Trial. The first witness is Patricia Exu. She works at Lake Highland School as a librarian.
After a brief recess, the state has now called its second witness, a real estate agent.
He's the owner of the home. He said the victim worked for him for 7 years, since 2011. He said Fulford was a house manager, would clean the house and pick up his two kids from school
Home owner, Reid Berman, said he never saw Fulford after he left for work. She took his son to work and then went to the dentist. She was supposed to pick him up for school that day, but that never happened
Berman said it was out of the ordinary for Fulford not to pick up his son from school. He ended up picking his son up. When he got home, Fulford wasn't there nor her car. Chores also weren't done.
Berman told the jury a FedEx Package was found inside near the front door. There was something in the package that needed to be refrigerated -it wasn't. Berman said he called local hospitals and Winter Park Police. A missing persons report was eventually filed
The state's third witness is a @WinterParkPD patrol officer #ScottNelsonTrial
the state's fourth witness is Robert Fulford, the victim's husband.
Fulford said he never heard from his wife at work during the day when she went missing. Police came to his home and told him Fulford was missing. Robert Fulford called friends and family to see if anyone had heard from her
Fulford told jurors he was shown surveillance pictures of a man using his wife's bank card at an ATM after he took out $300 from their joint account. Prosecutors said that man was Scott Nelson
Detective Sharon Wagganer from @WinterParkPD said she was notified about the case the day after Fulford went missing. That's when she went to Reid Berman's home.
Detective Wagganer said there was no sign of forced entry and no obvious sign of theft at Reid Berman's home.
