Police are asking for help in identifying a woman wearing a necklace who fell 500 feet from the infamous Birling Gap cliff nearly a year ago. <2017>
Police called for help identifying her after finding a stranded 'severely degraded' corpse in a cove near Birling Gap, East Sussex, in July 2017.
Although they could determine she was middle aged with reddish shoulder length brown hair, Hastings coroner's court learnt the body had been in the sea for several days and was seriously decomposed. Despite a forensic artist's impression of how she presented herself before her death, no family or friends showed up.
Detective Sergeant Todd Stewart said: “The body was seriously damaged.
I can't tell when she entered the water.
"I would not suggest any evidence of third party involvement."
The coroner's court extracted fingerprints, DNA and did a dental exam, but authorities
were still struggling to identify the woman.
