CHARLESTON, Ore. - The sheriff has made a public appeal for help identifying a woman found dead Tuesday in the rocks of the jetty at the Charleston Marina.

The woman was found dead in the rocks off Alaska Packers Way, the road on the jetty in Charleston, around 2:21 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.

...

The woman was 55 to 60 years old, about 5-foot-3 and 160 pounds with short gray hair, the sheriff's office said.

She had no tattoos and was wearing "distinctive jewelry," the sheriff's office said.

"At the time of her discovery the deceased female was wearing Nike running shoes gray in color, black pants, and a blue hooded sweat shirt with the Winnie-the-Pooh character 'Eeyore' depicted on it," according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators believe she was a smoker.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Coos County Sheriff’s Office at (541) 396-7830.

Sheriff asks for public's help to ID woman found dead on jetty in Charleston, Oregon

For anyone wondering where Charleston is:

Charleston is an unincorporated community in Coos County, Oregon, United States. Charleston is the least populated community in Oregon's Bay Area and is Home to a large commercial fishing fleet, it is adjacent to the ocean entrance to Coos Bay. (from Wikipedia)

So a teeny, tiny town on the southern end of the coast. Hopefully she will be ID'd soon as there are so few residents.

On the radio stations FB page, locals are suggesting who they think it may be. It shouldn't be a mystery for long, thankfully. I hope they can find her family.

“On July 1, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office announced the woman was positively identified via fingerprints. The 61-year-old woman’s name will be released once her family has been notified regarding the death.”

I wonder if they’re having trouble finding her family. I don’t see anything announcing her identity.
