GUILTY NY - Karina Vetrano, 30, jogger found murdered, Queens, 2 Aug 2016 #5 *First trial MISTRIAL*

It doesn't matter what thread I place these posts on because when you understand what the system is really all about you will understand it is all BULLSH#T.

In the Vetrano case it is about as much BS as one can get. Last week I was with several former Queens prosecutors and they all had an opinion why the judge called a mistrial when he did:
1. He saw the case slipping away. 2. It was going to hang and why not call it now. 3. It sensed this was a 'bad jury'. Did they mean they were bad because they might have entertained an acquittal?

I’m confused why so many on this thread are convinced this man is innocent. So what her father may have disturbed the scene when he first found her and hugged her... still doesn’t explain how some random black kids dna was found on her (and under her fingernails) in the process. Also Chanel Lewis was treated for lacerations to his hands in hospital the day after the attack. Come on!!!

I'm 3rd generation new yorker and my entire mother's side including my mother uncle and grandmother are defense attorneys... the fact that people trust the system so much is ridiculou . Its horribly corrupt and doesnt work correctly 75 percent of the time....thank you for this post, people really allow their emotions to override logic!

For the system to work people.jave to do their jobs correctly. Had the police not screwed up the chain of custody and were transparent then people wouldn't question as much as they do . However dont forget the presumption of innocence...people in the country seem to forget that completely

I did not say Lewis is innocent, but I do question is guilt. Oningne thing that troubles me is the father making the phone call he made to his daughter so sooner after going for the jog when Howard Beach is relatively a very safe neighborhood and in broad daylight in an August early evening. both jogged the same path many times before so what made this different. The judge called a mistrial so early on without first giving an Allen charge. Unheard of in legal circles.. Why this time?

The alternate theory as to how and why Karina was killed makes far more sense to me than Lewis being the killer. Truth is if the other theory is correct it would e near impossible to prove.

Why this time?
As previously stated, the jury was deliberating on the day before Thanksgiving, and if he had given the 'Allen Charge" the jury may have felt pressured into returning a verdict before the holiday, leaving the case wide open for appeal.

My question is why are you contradicting yourself?
You claim in a previous post that this Judge was the most reversing Judge in NYC, and somehow he was "hand picked" to get the results they desired. (whoever "they" are) If this is true, and he reverses the Jury's guilty verdict, and lets the defendant walk on appeal,(which he wouldn't have been one of the judge's' on the bench anyway) then why didn't he just accept the Jury's position the day before the holiday and render a not guilty verdict?

If this Judge is so determined to let defendants walk by somehow being the "most reversing Judge in NYC,' then perhaps you can explain why he didn't declare another mistrial for failure to provide discovery under the Brady Act when the prosecution didn't provide information in regards to two white men being spotted in the park at the time of the murder?

Far as I can tell Wednesday is always the day before Thanksgiving and is always in November......surprise surprise surprise. Not saying the guy is innocent. What I am saying is the the deck is so stacked against a defendant they have little chance of a fair trial.

And as far as I can tell, when a judge puts pressure on a jury that would rather be home celebrating Thanksgiving instead of deliberating, that's grounds for an appeal.
I'm still wondering how in your mind, why a Judge that is known for letting people walk on a reversal, didn't call a mistrial when that discovery wan't presented by the prosecution about two white men being seen in the park at the time of the murder?
You didn't answer that.
Which part of the trial wasn't fair? When the mistrial was called? When the DNA was presented? The cuts on his hand? The fact that he was at in the park at the time of the murder?Let's leave the confession out of the equation. Exactly how was "the deck stacked against him?"

Rumored was a lot of money was 0wed and the people that were owed the money were blown off. Killer (s) brought in just for the occasion and set back to Russia on the next plane.

I went to a murder scene where the victim was a Chinese drug lord. Found in the street in an upscale neighborhood. Two of my partners were so called 'specialists' with black related murders. . this was not going to be easy....they might even be required to think. I looked up and they were gone like a fart in the wind. Trust me when I say you have NO idea what goes on behind closed doors.

Let me make sure I am understanding this right.
You're saying in makes more sense to you that a lot of money was owed by a retired fire fighter living a modest lifestyle in a modest house, and somehow it was enough money that a secret plot was developed to assassinate not him, but his family member? And It was so much money and so important to assassinate her that a highly trained assassin was flown from Russia just for this purpose, somehow knew Karina was going jogging at that time, murdered her in the park, wasn't seen by anyone, and then jumped back on a plane and flew back to Russia? And they went through all this trouble rather than just get one of the neighbors to do it seeing as half the Mob lives in Howard Beach? And then somehow that guy couldn't keep a secret and told others what he had done? And he had told someone what he had done before he boarded the plane back to Russia, risking the chance he may have never made it out of the country before he was caught?
Please tell me you were joking!

His DNA sat right at the top of that pile.
Come on Hawk!

Yes, Philip called his daughter shortly after she left on her run.
He sensed something was wrong.
It happens.

Do you really think the DA doesn't know what is going on in the jury room in a case like this? Hey, you want a better idea what goes on with the DA office? GOOGLE: George Joseph wnyc. You'll find enough there to make you wonder. Queens DA even got involved with the Spota case. Oe of the key factors why the FEDS said enough is enough.

You really think I would do anything to allow a stone cold killer go free unless I thought there was good reason to at least explore .
You really think the mistrial was called for at that junction of the case?
Wake up.
I have no problem believing Lewis is guilty. What I do have a problem with is sending an innocent person to prison.
