I doubt his trial started according to this, there is a snag in the DNA. The Austin lab is a mess and I'm not sure who they are using instead.

"One week before he was scheduled to go to trial in the 1979 cold case strangulation of his 18-year-old co-worker, Austin resident Michael Galvan was allowed to leave the Travis County Jail on Monday after prosecutors announced they are still awaiting DNA test results and cannot proceed until they have them.
In granting a motion from the state to delay the trial until next month, state District Judge Brad Urrutia also agreed to reduce Galvan’s bail from $750,000 to $250,000 and to free him on a personal recognizance bond. The judge said he had no other lawful alternative after prosecutors, who had previously announced they were ready for trial, said they now want to wait for the lab results of an endocervical swab taken from victim Debra Reiding.
Per the release conditions set by Urrutia, Galvan, who was in jail for 474 days, must stay in his home except for doctor appointments and also wear a GPS monitoring device that will track his movements....
The new trial date is Oct. 28."
