Found Deceased IL - Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui, 19, nine months pregnant, Chicago, 24 Apr 2019 *Arrest*

I think the hospital is suggesting that they maybe could have known that the people who brought the baby in were not the baby's relatives.
Hospital isn't suggesting anything. There were no quotes from hospital in that article.

"Cook County prosecutors Wednesday stacked new charges against two women accused of killing Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, but did not add counts related to the death of the teenage mother’s newborn son who died last week after more than a month on life support.

Clarisa Figueroa and her daughter, Desiree, entered not guilty pleas Wednesday to a 27-count indictment that included charges of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery of a child and dismembering a body. The pair, accused of strangling the pregnant Ochoa-Lopez, 19, and cutting her unborn child from her belly, were arrested in May, when newborn Yovanny Jadiel Lopez remained on life support...

Prosecutors still could add murder charges to the counts against the Figueroas tied to the infant’s death....

Desiree Figueroa’s lawyer has requested a gag order in the case that would bar prosecutors and the defense from talking to the media about the case, and, in an unusual step, would also block Ochoa-Lopez’s husband, Yovani Lopez, and activists who have rallied around the family from talking to the media. Judge Sophia Atcherson, filling at the hearing for Judge Peggy Chiampas, did not make a ruling on the request."

Gag order all they want - less media coverage is not going to stop a jury from sending people who cut a baby out of a womb, killing both mother and child, to prison for life.

The family of a baby boy who died after he was cut from his mother's womb during her murder said they have continued to receive medical bills from the hospital, including some that listed the mother's alleged killer as the child's parent.

Since then, the family of the baby has continued to receive medical bills totaling more than $300,000 for his time at the hospital, including some from when Clarisa Figueroa was passing the child off as her own and one dated June 3, weeks after the suspects had been arrested in connection with Ochoa-Lopez's murder.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the child is also listed under the name "Figueroa, boy" on the bills up until May 7.

The hospital previously promised to waive all bills connected to Yovanny.

Frank Avila, attorney for family of Ochoa-Lopez and the boy's father Yovani Lopez, told CBS Chicago: "We don't have the medical records and my client is getting bills for hundreds of thousands of dollars from the hospital that has the Figueroa name on it and that's atrocious. It needs to stop."

In a statement, the hospital confirmed that at least one bill should not have been sent to the family.

"Our hearts and prayers continue to be with the Ochoa-Lopez family during this difficult time," the statement said.

"We have had discussions with the family regarding a bill that was inadvertently sent and we regret this error. We take our obligation to patient privacy seriously, and therefore are unable to comment further regarding care, services or billing."

This hospital’s missteps are serious and ongoing. They need to be held accountable for the harm they’ve done to this family.

EXCUSE ME? none of them should have....

It’s a heinous crime that shocked Chicago, making national headlines.

Two women accused of strangling and butchering a pregnant mother will appear before a judge Monday morning.

CBS 2’s Cesar Rodriguez has more from the Cook County Criminal Courthouse.

Clarisa Figueroa and her daughter, Desiree, have a court arraignment for the baby boy’s death. The 46-year-old mother and 25-year-old daughter pleaded not guilty in June to several charges of murder, kidnapping, dismembering a body and concealing a homicide in Marlen Ochoa’s death.
Women Charged With Ochoa Baby Murder Back In Court

The mother and daughter charged with killing a pregnant Chicago teen and cutting her unborn baby from her womb are expected to return to court Monday after the pair were indicted in the death of the young mother's infant.

Desiree and Clarisa Figueroa are expected to be arraigned around 9 a.m.

The Figueroas were charged with murder last month after the infant who was ripped from 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa's womb following her death died at a Chicago hospital in June.

Already in jail on first-degree murder charges in Ochoa's killing, both were held without bond on the new charges last month.

The mother and daughter accused of killing a pregnant Chicago teen and cutting her unborn baby from her womb were arraigned Monday.

Clarisa and Desiree Figueroa pleaded not guilty to the murders of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez and her newborn son, Yovanny Jadiel Lopez. Baby Yovanny’s cause of death was lack of oxygen to the brain. He lived in intensive care for 53 days with severe brain damage before passing away.

Tuesday the three people charged in Marlen Ochoa's death will be in court, and the judge may rule on a gag order filed by the lawyer of two of the defendants.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her daughter Desiree, 25, pleaded not guilty in June to charges of murder, kidnapping, dismembering a body, and concealing a homicide in Ochoa's death. They were later charged murder of her baby, Yovanny Lopez, who died on June 14, nearly two months after they allegedly cut him from her womb.
Suspects In Marlen Ochoa Murder Case To Appear In Court; Judge Could Rule On Gag Order

A Cook County judge has rejected a so-called gag order in the case of a mother and daughter who allegedly murdered pregnant teen Marlen Ochoa-Lopez and cut the baby from her womb.

While noting the defendants' right to a fair trial, Judge Peggy Chiampas said she was not ready to restrict public access by granting a defense motion for a decorum order in the high-profile case.

Defense attorneys for both women had sought a decorum order, arguing that intense media attention and inflammatory comments made by potential witnesses would prevent the "fair application of justice” in the case.

Chiampas recognized that possible risk, but said Ochoa-Lopez's family are also deserving of participating in a fair and impartial trial.

“I am very well aware there are high emotions involved in this case,” the judge said. “That needs to be tempered by my responsibility under the law … to ensure and balance those rights for all involved.”

The proposed decorum order would have restricted public comments from attorneys, witnesses and others involved in the case. Despite her ruling, Chiampas did issue an order banning the distribution of any photos or flyers containing the defendants' faces on courthouse grounds after seeing someone holding posters depicting the Figueroas and the word “guilty” outside the courthouse Tuesday.

Ochoa-Lopez’s body was found in May in a trash can behind the Figueroa’s Southwest Side house on the 4100 block of W. 77th Place. She had been missing for more than three weeks and her vehicle was found parked nearby.

Police allege she had been lured there by Clarisa Figueroa, who had promised to give her free baby clothes after meeting through a “Help a Mother Out” Facebook group. Once at the house, she allegedly snuck up behind Ochoa-Lopez and strangled her as Desiree Figueroa helped pin the teen down.

Cook County prosecutors say Clarisa Figueroa then used a knife to cut the baby from Ochoa-Lopez before putting her body in a plastic bag and dumping it in a trash can. After the murder, Clarisa Figueroa called 911 and allegedly attempted to pass the baby off as her own, saying he was in distress.

A day later, Clarisa Figueroa and Bobak began cleaning large amounts of blood from their home, according to prosecutors. When police officers executed a search warrant at the home earlier this week, Bobak was allegedly found in the backyard cleaning a rug with bleach and a hose.

The baby was not breathing by the time paramedics arrived. They tried to resuscitate the infant and took him to Christ Medical Center, where he remained until his death weeks later.

A break in the investigation came after Clarisa Figueroa set up an online fundraising campaign, which said the baby was about to die and money was needed for a funeral. Police then conducted DNA tests on the baby and determined that Ochoa-Lopez and her husband Yovani Lopez were the parents.
