GUILTY NM - Craig Cavanaugh, 44, Mazatzal Casino, Payson, 4 July 2019

Based on the FB page dedicated to finding him, the comments I have read (some still posted and some deleted after being posted), the lack of information being released by LE - all lead me to believe that based on his personal struggles and pending court case in AZ that maybe he felt it would be easier to walk away from his current life due to the life events he was experiencing. I absolutely find it impossible that LE hasn't found/spoken with the 2 men in the HD photos and maybe they were given permission by CC to use his CC's in exchange for something and they don't have anything to do with causing him any harm. Interestingly, LE has also stopped asking for help in locating these individuals - again leading me to believe that LE has explored this lead and ruled out these men. Lastly, they found his truck a week ago and LE still hasn't released any info. Surely, I would think that if they felt some type of foul play was suspected that they would have announced it. Seems to me the lack of information being released is a sign that maybe he has chosen to disappear on his own. In any case, all the options are terrible and torturous to his loved ones and family unless he returns home unharmed and sooner rather than later.

Me too....the pictures of them are very clear! People surely must know who they are, but just aren't coming forward for whatever reason.
I think they went straight underground, I live in Holbrook Az not to far from the casino where he was last seen. There are so many places he could be. I think he was lured there for work, and in an news article it says he has a court case coming up in Az im thinking that might have something to do with it as well.

Great question, and one I’ve thought about as well. I still have not seen what Craig’s job is, but I’m thinking it’s construction type contract work. Hoping he’s not on the run from his court case.
I don't get the impression that he's on the run. If that's the case, I can't understand why he would give up his means of transportation and credit cards. The fact that he was working and IIRC, going to bid on a job, tends to favor that his intent was to resolve his court case in the typical fashion. MOO

Thank you. It's good to read some news.

Noting:
  • A witness reported seeing someone who fit Craig’s description in Payson on July 4. The witness did not comment on whether CC was in distress or not.
  • When Craig disappeared, his truck and credit cards vanished as well. Within a few days, the credit cards resurfaced.
  • The two individuals who used Mr. Cavanaugh’s credit cards did so between July 5th - 7th. The cards were used once in Payson and twice in Glendale.
  • Officer Brown told Dateline detectives have identified the two men and are working with local agencies to locate the men and interview them.
  • Officer Brown said agencies “in and around the Phoenix” area would be responsible for charging the individuals with fraud, since that’s where the men used Craig’s credit cards.
  • The two men remain at large and Officer Brown declined to comment on whether or not they are considered suspects in Craig’s disappearance.
  • Officer Brown said the location and the condition in which the truck was found are not being released to protect the integrity of the case.

Missing New Mexico man’s credit cards used in Glendale
[...]

...“He was supposed to be home Thursday night/early Friday morning to leave for a Fourth of July vacation for the weekend.”

Instead, according to Allen, two men used Cavanaugh’s credit cards to purchase numerous items at several Valley stores in the days following his disappearance.

“The individuals in the photos used Mr. Cavanaugh’s credits cards at a Home Depot and Dillard’s in Glendale, and attempted to use them at a Maverik in Payson and a QuikTrip in Peoria,” she said.

All the charges occurred between July 5 and July 7, added Nicole Brown, another spokeswoman for the Farmington Police Department.

[...]

As of print, however, the men have not been located or their identities revealed. If they are located, Farmington police said they will not charge them for fraud due to the crossing of jurisdictions.

Hmm in my mind, this stinks of foul play. So they know who the guys are but cannot find them. They are obviously on the run or hiding out somewhere. I am having a hard time thinking of a legitimate reason they would have his credit cards and be using them (and if there WAS, then come forward to LE and clear your names!) I mean, it's absurd for them to think they wouldn't be caught using someone else's credit cards when all these types of stores have surveillance. But people do some pretty stupid things.

If something happened to him at his last known location of the casino, I can't imagine it wouldn't have been caught on camera, knowing how many cameras casinos have. Perhaps LE have this info and are just not releasing to protect the integrity of the case. Sadly, I feel this case won't end well :( MOO
