Well, a different perspective maybe.

He does have a daughter. Likely his daughter is on social media. Likely RT knew BT’s family overseas. He could have said “hey daughter, do you think you could find so and so on Facebook and message them and ask for phone number”?

Tons of ways to get in contact with people without phone numbers. No excuse.
Right. Or the possibility that the son is being dishonest about knowing about his mother being missing. Even though there are more relatives other than the man who just lost his wife having to be responsible for calling everyone while not having a computer or phone. Perhaps he did ask someone to inform the son, and it took whoever he asked that long to tell him. This is an older man btw. He may not use Facebook, or even be that aware of it.

No excuse? I can think of some. But for some people that have close knit families and use social media a lot, I can see why they find it impossible to wrap their heads around. Again I say, we’re not all the same, and judging people by expecting that we are does a disservice in the chance that he actually did lose a disoriented wife in the desert.

I hope law enforcement follows up all leads and does not get the tunnel vision that I see in places here. It makes me feel afraid. Trial by the media and public is a terrifying phenomenon to me.

We have a photo of BT wearing a red cap and wearing what looks like a black bikini. That was in the original article that started thread 1, page 1: Search underway for lost hiker in Mojave Desert

Yes, but we have nothing stating that photo was taken that day and during the time RT states they were taking their stroll through the desert.

Didn't our VI state that RT provided that photo b/c it was the closest thing he could find to what she was wearing that day, or am I imagining that? Does anybody else remember something being said about that photo not being from that day?

JMO.

I just can't get his Vegas comment out of my mind.It just seemed so out of the blue to bring it up and I just feel like it's a major clue.
That really does sound to me like something that's been prompted by a leading question by the reporter. Especially as it was a Las Vegas paper. It's what they do. They would be looking for a local angle.

Torches and pitchforks, virtual style. It's bad enough on WS; even worse elsewhere.

I meant RT’s daughter. SHE had her phone! Rob wasn’t alone on an island with no one around him to HELP him contact family...

My parents do not remember my phone number. I don't think they even have it written down anywhere. It's on their cell. If they lost their cell, they'd have a hard time contacting me.

Construction workers start before 5:00 am, the trash is picked up around 7:00 am, I do my yard work early and you do not see any one out walking after 10:00 am.
Where I live is the same height or higher then where they live. Needles Ca. is a little about sea level. I'm about 750 ft. As far as the temperature, there are only a couple of degrees between Needles, Lake Havasu, Bullhead City and Laughlin Nv. I was in Laughlin today and the Colorado River was packed. I have a niece that works at Don Laughlin's Riverside Casino and she said that their booked solid.

It's not the flight/hotel cancellations in themselves: for many: just another straw in the haystack tipping it over

As far as him not having numbers for family, I can believe that: but I cannot believe LE wouldn't give him the numbers...I mean, geez: most of us nowadays don't know by heart important numbers & they aren't written down.
So: not sure how much this 'excuse' goes with me....LE would want him to be able to contact family & I would think, they'd understand they were in his phone & give him the numbers...right?
Can you lay out for me the haystack? Perhaps I’m just not getting the whole haystack and why this straw (that we have no first hand confirmation of) is tipping the mountain of evidence.

There was a woman who disappeared from Mojave NP in 2003, apparently went to Vegas by just jumping in a car, and then was left near her home in Arizona (Kingman). He probably had heard that story.

Also, nearly all the traffic on Kelbaker Road on a Friday is headed to Vegas...it's a much nicer road for a vehicle that can't go faster than 55 mph in the first place.

I didn't see the post above that says he didn't say Vegas in the first place! Darn reporter.

And as far as not contacting the son which keeps coming up as alluding to RT being a total dirtbag in the least or a murderer (which is the true implication), we don’t know if it’s true, what the relationship of any is.
sandbbm for focus.
this information comes from our verified insider.( iirc)

I don’t know if you are referring to this as “no first hand information” but our VI has said this specifically.
My family was informed of her disappearance on July 16th. In informing my family Rob mentioned he had cancelled the flights. His family members later repeated that her flights had been cancelled when I tried to reach Robbie by phone.

In the first conversation he had with my family Robbie also said they should cancel the hotel reservations because "she's not gonna make it." endquote.

The source for last sighting is a neighbour's surveillance cam. I'm still waiting to see this footage, but I am trusting the source.

Well, to answer this. I think MOST would expect to be called by family in this situation rather quickly. Not only did RT NOT do this, he waited 4 ENTIRE days before he even notified MULTIPLE family members about her disappearance.

Wouldn’t you want to find out if family had heard anything, knew anything, and also to commiserate or worry with someone as loyal as family? What did he have to do for 4 days? I’m sure he had time to call her family. He just chose not to. Why? Did he want them to hear from a stranger? Or news? Or maybe he was worried about how he would be perceived by them?

I’m not questioning everything about him, but I do totally question this. Even if he didn’t feel like calling, he could have asked his daughter to call? That’s what sometimes happens with deaths. Someone calls the whole family. But he didn’t. He called the airlines instead, apparently.

BBM. Respectfully, I do not think we should assume that people who are related or connected by marriage are automatically loyal to one another and would offer comfort in a crisis. In some families it is just the opposite. We don't know the status of RT's relationship with BT's family. Nor do we know how close BT is to any of her family members. We do have a few clues, however. The VI has told us that two of BT's brother's are estranged from one another. That's a big red flag for me that BT's family may not be a close knit, commiserate with one another through thick and thin type of family. MOO.

I totally agree with you. We do not know. We only know that BT was planning to visit soon.

Why is that odd?

Maybe he felt if Barbara was found, for example after two days, she would be stubborn, still wanting to travel while that being no good idea, maybe he was just acting responsibly.

Why is everything this man says or does a red flag?
His arm around his wife's shoulders->a red flag!!! Very possessive.
The love notes Barbara wrote him, a red flag!!!

I think if one is concerned about wife’s safety, the travel would be really secondary.

I asked people I knew if they had heard of the story, from all walks of life, from this area, not one had. I have lived here for over 30 years. I walk 3 miles a day, but I start early and it takes about 45 minutes. They may have been avid hikers, but not here in July.

The police had the phone for days. When our VI tried calling, he got the police, and was surprised that they kept the phone as long as they did: CA - CA - Barbara Thomas, 69, Bullhead City, hiking wearing bikini in Mojave desert, 12 July 2019

Considering most people keep contact numbers on their cell phone, not written down, maybe he didn't call for four days because he didn't have any numbers to call, and didn't have access to his phone to use the contact list/call history on it.
Too bad he didn’t think to check FB ... post a CALL ME and get that ball rolling.
